SIGHT at IEEE GHTC San Jose

IEEE SIGHT was honored to convene some of its most promising volunteers and prospective members this month at the IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference (GHTC) in San Jose, California, USA.

L. to r. Holly Schneider Brown, Mario Aleman, Charles Onu, Keerthi Iyer, Arun Noel Victor, Jineet Doshi, Mahmoud Kalaban, Juan Manuel Guzman Duffaure, Clarissa Loureiro, Dara Dotz, Kartik Kulkarni.

SIGHT provided travel support to nine SIGHT Conference Participation Support Program recipients. Selected were GHTC paper authors from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India, Nicaragua, Nigeria, and the US.

Recipient Charles Onu said, "The experience at GHTC was golden - meeting amazing people, establishing networks and exchanging ideas. It was truly priceless. And I want to specially thank the entire SIGHT team for contributing to making this trip possible."

Now seeking Society-based SIGHTs!

At its Steering Committee meeting this month, SIGHT leadership voted to open SIGHT formation to IEEE Societies, in addition to Sections and Student Branches.

That's good news for all those who have been asking about creating a group that is technology-, rather than geography-based!

New groups still require six active IEEE members and the permission of the parent OU. Download the new petition to get started!
