Boise SIGHT group works with refugees, Native American kids

While some may feel they need to travel far in order to do good, the IEEE SIGHT program's whole premise is to have local impact. As such, the Boise, Idaho, USA SIGHT group has devised two projects that utilize engineering to assist their local community.

In the first project, the group is helping refugees with engineering experience but unfamiliar with the US job market to hone their resumes. In this way, they can apply for jobs commensurate with their education and experience, rather than lower skilled positions.

The second project was a week-long STEM camp for local Native American childrenKidWind materials were used to introduce the engineering design process and measurements of energy and power generated with different wind turbine blade designs, among other activities.
