Taking The Reins

Good Day newsletter readers! Most of you know or have spoken with me when you have called the office. My name is Beverly Evans and I have been with the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association for just over 2 years. Just to let you know I will be taking over the Travel Trade duties from Amy. However I have been helping, training and working with Amy on learning the new position and this is what I have done so far.

I have attended training with Destination British Columbia in December to start with learning the markets and how to read the reports. I have met the team (some I have already met) and learned their specialties and how they can help me with questions and with assisting our stakeholders. I am learning on what makes a property export ready. I have spent the day with the familiarization specialist on how to assist in serving the groups that come in and how to get your properties shown. I look forward to working with you in the years ahead.

Rendezvous Canada
As you may know Rendezvous Canada is coming up fast and I will be going to represent our region. If you want to call and chat with me on your properties and what you have to offer I am excited to learn more about you. The more I know about you the more I am able to assist you in getting people to book with you and come and spend money. I have attached a form for you to fill out and send back to me with some of the information that I will need in learning about you and where you are located. I will need anything new that you have done or that you are offering such as brochures, price and of course photos. I have found that people love pictures.

Jonview Training
I went and spent a few days training sales agents at Jonview in Toronto. It was done in 2 sections a presentation and then round tables where I would get a small of group of 4 - 5 that I was able to give my total attention to and to give them the special one on one. Of course there were a lot of people that had no idea where we were or what we had to offer. After the 2 days with them they had many questions and a lot of interest in our properties. It was a great success!


Canada's West Marketplace
November was a great month as I attended Canada's West Marketplace in Kelowna and it was a HUGE success. I had forty-one appointments with a lot of amazing buyers. Just about every meeting I had they were excited to let me know that their sales were up and had a lot of interest in our area. Over the 2 days I also met a lot of people and have made some great new connections. It was amazing to see so many people just wanting to know about our region.
