Iowa Conference News

Bishop Julius C. Trimble and Conference Secretary Patty LaGree offer a welcome and introduction to the 2015 session of the Iowa Annual Conference.

The Board of Discipleship of the Iowa Annual Conference is now accepting nominations for The Harry Denman Evangelism Award.

The Harry Denman Evangelism Award honors a United Methodist clergy, youth, and lay person in each annual conference who has exhibited outstanding efforts in Wesleyan evangelism by faithfully carrying out the mission of "making disciples of Jesus Christ."

"We have a lot of people living in poverty in the state of Iowa, and we need to be looking at ways to improve their livelihood," states Rev. Clint Twedt-Ball, Mathew 25's Executive Director. He and several others have begun working towards that goal as a part of a new Poverty to Opportunity Task Force created at the 2014 Iowa Annual Conference session.

April 21-24, 2015 at Honey Creek Resort State Park

It is a lamentable fact that we live in a nation at war. More and more of our congregations are home to Veterans and their families. Many come home with invisible wounds called Moral Injury and Moral Trauma caused from what they have seen, lived through, or acted upon.

Our School will focus on understanding Moral Injury and Moral Trauma, mostly in the experience of the military, but also beyond. We will hear from Veterans in our own Conference, as well as the leading experts in the field of Pastoral Counseling. Register!

SPECIAL INVITATION - Roll Down, Justice!
On April 19 we will celebrate the premier of "Roll Down, Justice!", written by Mark A. Miller in honor of the life and ministry of Rev. Robert Crandall. We invite EVERYONE to join the Grace Chancel Choir in the singing of this anthem. Anyone who is interested can join the choir for two special rehearsals in Wesley Hall: Wednesday, April 8 and/or Wednesday, April 15 from 7:00-7:30.
