Meals from the Market
The Des Moines Area Religious Council provides food pantry clients with access to fresh produce. One program that helps in this goal is Meals from the Market. Sponsored by Great Western Bank, the Meals from the Market booth operates at the Des Moines Downtown Farmers' Market every Saturday during the summer season. Volunteers collect fresh produce donations from vendors, which are then distributed to DMARC's 12 food pantries in the greater Des Moines area. Watch the short video below to see the program in action. The booth is located at the corner of 2nd and Court Aves. Children can complete an art project based on the MyPlate nutritional guidelines, and older visitors to the booth can play bean bag toss. Visit dmreligious.org and movethefood.org.
