fulbrightFulbright Scholars Program Faculty Workshop

Debra Egan, the Director of Scholar Academic Partnerships at the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), will offer a workshop on the Fulbright Program for Faculty and Professionals.  This workshop focus on opportunities the program provides for faculty to travel, take sabbatical, conduct research or teach abroad.   

 

Faculty will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about teaching and research opportunities in more than 125 countries;
  • Get advice on selecting countries for your application and making contacts abroad;
  • Explore how your campus can host visiting Fulbright scholars;
  • Get tips on how to prepare the Fulbright application.

Debra Egan will also offer 10-15 minute individual consultation sessions to faculty who are unable to attend the workshop or who have individual questions. To schedule your session between 2:00-3:30PM on November 19, please contact Caitlin McDermott-Murphy at cmcdermottmurphy@fas.harvard.edu.

hiltHarvard Initiative for Learning and Teaching (HILT)
Cultivation Grants
Deadline: December 2, 2013
Award Amount: $100,000-$200,000 for up to two years
Eligible: Harvard University benefits-eligible faculty, deans, and administrators

The HILT Grants Program supports the cultivation of pedagogical innovations across Harvard's schools. These grants are designed to act as a catalyst for new, innovative ideas while at the same time finding ways to scale, sustain, and institutionalize successful innovations. Cultivation grants support department/unit curricular review and renewal, cross-area educational research, and building teaching and learning capacities and skills. Candidates may apply for funding individually or as groups.

Faculty Research and Travel Grants
Deadline: December 13, 2013
Award Amount: Up to $20,000
Eligible Faculty: All faculty
Eligible Disciplines: Any discipline relating to East, South, or Southeast Asia

The Asia Center Faculty Grants support research and travel on any topic related to East, South, or Southeast Asia.  Recipients will be asked upon completion of their work to make a presentation at an Asia Center seminar or comparable program.

Conservation Grants
Deadline: January 15, 2014
Award Amount: up to $100,000
Target Disciplines:  Art Conservation, History of Art and Architecture

The Kress Foundation Conservation program supports the professional practice of art conservation, especially as it relates to European art of the pre-modern era. Grants are awarded to projects that create and disseminate specialized knowledge, including archival projects, development and dissemination of scholarly databases, documentation projects, exhibitions and publications focusing on art conservation, scholarly publications, and technical and scientific studies.  Grants are also awarded for activities that permit conservators and conservation scientists to share their expertise with both professional colleagues and a broad audience through international exchanges, professional meetings, conferences, symposia, consultations, the presentation of research, exhibitions that include a prominent focus on materials and techniques, and other professional events.

History of Art Grants

Award Amount: Up to $100,000
Target Disciplines: History of Art and Architecture

The Kress Foundation History of Art program supports scholarly projects that will enhance the appreciation and understanding of European art and architecture.  Grants are awarded to projects that create and disseminate specialized knowledge, including archival projects, development and dissemination of scholarly databases, documentation projects, museum exhibitions and publications, photographic campaigns, scholarly catalogues and publications, and technical and scientific studies.  Grants are also awarded for activities that permit art historians to share their expertise through international exchanges, professional meetings, conferences, symposia, consultations, the presentation of research, and other professional events.

elsonElson Family Arts Initiative
Deadline: January 24, 2014 (first round) or April 4, 2014 (second round)
Award Amount: Up to $5,000
Eligible Disciplines: All

The Elson Family Arts Initiative fund supports undergraduate education in the arts and humanities and the integration of the arts into the curriculum within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Course proposals may (but need not) involve collaborations across departments and divisions of the FAS.  Priority will be given to proposals for art-making in courses where art-making has not traditionally been inserted.
