October Fruit of the Spirit - JOY

"For our heart is glad in Him, because we trust His holy name." Psalm 33:21

Dear Families and Friends of ODCA;

Thank you for your participation in our test CyberDay on September 25th. While it seemed to be mostly successfully, we also received feedback from parents and teachers that will help us fine tune our efforts before the winter snow arrives. Your feedback is vital to our success in all we do and our efforts to provide a quality education for all of our students. I also appreciate the parents who came to share their questions, thoughts and suggestions during the Brown Bag Open Forum this month. In order for us to build unity as the Lord would have us do, we need to be able to support each other in our efforts to have all of the children have a solid spiritual and academic foundation. Sharing, praying and developing programs together will be the type of things that will position ODCA to THRIVE in the years to come. Thank you for being a part of that and read below other ways you can support the school in it's efforts to honor God and serve His children.

In His Service,

Meg McHale, Principal

"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 15:5-6
CYBER DAY PILOT
Thank you parents for your patience with our very first cyber day! We had a few minor glitches but overall everything went smoothly! We received lots of positive feedback and are hoping that with the suggested changes we will be more than prepared to handle snow day cancelations!
Progress Reports will be going home tomorrow for grades 1st through 8th grade.
CURRICULUM COMMITTEE
The Curriculum Committee will be having their first meeting on Monday, October 5th at 3:30pm in the school library. Under the shared leadership of teachers Nancy Price and Margaret Ewerth, the committee will be establishing a text review cycle, driving forward the curriculum building efforts and establishing new ventures and programs to grow what is offered at ODCA for the students. If you have ideas to share or want to be a part of the work to build a quality academic program, please attend the meeting.
SAFETY INSPECTION

In September, we had a meeting with Officer Dave Madrack, who is the Upper Dublin School Safety officer. He spent several hours going over school safety procedures and ideas to make our school the safest environment possible. We were pleased to see that we already have many safety procedures in place that he suggests. The remaining ones will be discussed by the Safety Committee and short and long term goals will be established.   Some measures we have already put into place include all teachers and staff wearing their I.D. badges, all visitors must get a pass before going into the building and we will be using walkie talkies inside and out for important and instant communication. We passed our fire inspection and the Fire Safety officer was very impressed with our Fire Drill that he was present for. We ask your patience and support as we continue to put additional measures in place to keep all the children safe at school.
