New Information for Parents
Dear Parents,
I want to thank you for your continued support of Open Door Christian Academy. As the Senior Pastor of Church of the Open Door, it gives me great delight to observe your resolve to continue to make sacrifices to ensure your Children receive quality education from the biblical worldview.
I also want to take this opportunity to let you know of a transition our church leadership made in May 2015, in regard to the predominant translation used in our worship service. For many years we used the New King James Version (NKJV) as the main version throughout our ministries. This has been an excellent translation and continues to serve believers throughout the United States. However, due to the many changes in our English language in vocabulary and grammar, and due to the growing number of new translations hitting the market, I decided that it was time to do some research and find the translation that would fit best these three criteria: accuracy, readability, and accessibility.
The leadership's intention was to identify the translation philosophy that is a "word-for-word" approach, while utilizing the latest Greek manuscript discoveries and therefore representing an accurate translation. Yet, we also sought for a translation that would best reflect our current English with all of its changes. Finally, we searched for the translation that would provide the most variety of selections to integrate with our electronics and print form. The conclusion was that the English Standard Version (ESV) fit all three requirements.
After conferring with the School Board, it was then decided that ODCA will also transition to the ESV Bible. Thanks to a generous donor, we are able to provide a single copy to each student registered at ODCA. These Bibles will be made available upon the first day of school. As always, the Word of God is the center of our authority and is the determination of our worldview.
I look forward to ODCA providing another exciting year of assisting parents and grandparents in their children's education.
Because Christ lives,
Dr. Glenn Jago
