Our students and parents did an awesome job with our Operation Christmas Child Collection!  Our school turned in 106 boxes!  The winning grade was 8th grade with 39 boxes!  They were able to help deliver them yesterday to the local distribution center to prep them for their journey overseas!  Our small, but mighty 2nd grade class brought in 19 boxes!  Please pray as these boxes go overseas and for those children who will be receiving them this Christmas!

ODPA is now gearing up for the Chrsitmas Shoppe which will be held December 3, 4, 5th. This is a time where the classes will be able to visit the shop and purchase gift items for those you sent in spending money for.  Preschool studeents are welcome to shop with their parents during open shop times.  Lower school students have set classroom shopping times.

Parent helpers are needed for this function and you are asked to sign up using the link below.

Please be sure that your child is dressed appropriately for being outside.  While the temperatures are still above freezing ALL students are outside for morning arrival and afternoon recess.

SPECIAL CHAPEL - Local Author Visit:
On January 15^th Vicki Chandler will be doing chapel for our students. She'll share a Christian perspective about bullying. Personal and professional experiences led her to write a picture book to empower bystanders of bullying.  Her son (now 33 yrs. old) was bullied throughout his school years. As a teacher and Christian school administrator, she felt frustrated when bullying continued despite prevention efforts. As a professor at Cairn University, she gained insight into why bystanders are reluctant to intervene.

Her picture book Heart Eyes: Beth and the Bullies is the first in a series. Each book will focus on a different reason children are bullied: a student who has a learning disability, a girl who has ADHD, a student who is an English language learner, a student who has health conditions, a student who is poor, etc.

 

Parents are invited to attend chapel on January 15^th. Vicki will stay to talk to interested parents after chapel. Books will be available for purchase (for $8.00).

Do you have a knack with Science?  Last year we had to cancel our Science Night since there was no parent(s) helpers to coordinate this event.  So far this year we have not had any parent set up to coordinate this event.  We are sending out another request to ask anyone who might want to run it or team up with a few other parents to run this event.  Without a coordinator we will not have this event.  If you are interested or would like more information  - please email our parent group at odpa2013@gmail.com 

The new hot lunch & hot dog order forms for December & January are being sent home today.  Currently this site is not allowing me to connect the link for the new lunch orders (will forward another weekly connections once this system allows me to add the links).

Orders are due by Monday morning 9:00 a.m. no late orders accepted, no change or refunds given.  For Middle School parents - if you happen to forget what the hot lunch menu selections were you can refer to the Cafeteria Section on Jupiter Grades to see what the menu is (please note - you cannot order from that site, but can only view the menu)
