OPEN DOOR PARENTS ASSOCIATION MEETING

Just a reminder we will hold our ODPA meeting tomorrow evening (November 12th) at 7:00 p.m. in the ODCA Library (2nd floor).  We hope you all can join us.  We will be discussing the Thanksgiving Feast, Race For Education Bookkeeping, and Christmas Shoppe!

 

 

THANKSGIVING FEAST DAY COMING!
 (Grades K-8 - Friday November 22nd)

On Friday, November 22nd , the students, faculty, and staff will celebrate Thanksgiving at our annual feast. However, we need your help! We are asking students to contribute the following:

 

Kindergarten           1 lb frozen corn AND 1 lb frozen green beans
 
First Grade               2 dozen rolls no bake! (ready-to-serve)

Second Grade         2 cans cranberry sauce

Third Grade             1 1lb butter (in 4 stick form)
 
Fourth Grade          1 1lb butter (in 4 stick form)
 
Fifth Grade              1 large jar PLAIN applesauce (Not Cinnamon or other flavor)
 
Sixth Grade             2 doz HOMEMADE chocolate chip cookies NO NUTS
 
Seventh Grade        2 doz HOMEMADE chocolate chip cookies NO NUTS
 
Eighth Grade           2 dozen rolls no bake! (ready-to-serve)

 

In addition, we are asking each student to contribute $2.00 toward the cost of paper products and other needs for the feast. Please send all food items and your contribution to school by Wednesday, November 20th(except for rolls and cookies which are due on Thursday, November 21st).

 

          Each child may also bring in a non-perishable item as their offering to be donated to our area food pantry.

           We need parents to help on Wednesday, November 20th with cooking and food prep, Thursday, November 21st for set up and decorating and Friday, November 22nd for set up, serve, and clean up. If you are interested in helping please sign up through the Sign Up Genius, at www.signupgenius.com or the link found in the school Connections email. You can also email the coordinators at odpa2013@gmail.com with any questions. This is a wonderful event to earn your service hours! We hope you can come, but, unfortunately, we will not be able to provide nursery care.

Samaritans' Purse -
Operation Christmas Child
***LAST WEEK TO BRING IN!***
  
Last day to submit filled shoebox or cash mailing donation is Friday, November 15th 9:00 a.m.
 
 Last week our Lower & Middle School Students heard from a representative from Samaritan's Purse.  She gave the students a handout regarding the Operation Christmas Child program, and gave them a challenge to see which class could bring in the most filled shoeboxes to be sent overseas for this program. We are thrilled to be a part of this ministry, and last year we even received correspondence from a child who was the recipient of a gift box from ODCA!  We encourage you to make this a family project in making a gift box (we have extra boxes available in the office if you need one).  If you are not able to put together a box but would still like to be a part of this ministry - it costs $7.00/shoebox to ship them overseas. Would you consider supporting the cause by sending in funds to help ship what is donated?  If so, please send your cash contribution in an envelope marked (Shipping Samaritan's Purse)
