RACE FOR EDUCATION - A FUN DAY!!!!

What a great day we had yesterday for our Race For Education Event! Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer us on!
 
Race donations are coming in and we are thrilled to see what God has in store!  If you or a loved one have not received your mailer - you are still able to send in a donation!. Please include a note with the donation that says Race For Education - and name(s) of those it supports!  Checks should be made payable to Open Door Christian Academy.

SPORTS AWARDS -
DATE CHANGE
NEW DATE - Monday, October 21st immediately following the soccer games.
  
  
Parents of those students who participated on our boys/girls soccer team are asked to join us following the soccer games on Monday, 21st.  Your child should be bringing home today an order form for pizza ($1.50/slice) to eat before the award time begins.  Please complete the pizza order form and return it with your payment tomorrow.

Church Entrance Door
A friendly reminder to our school families that when coming to the school please use either the School Office Door or the Preschool Entry Door.  Please do not use the entry door by the church offices for school related visits.

Samaritans' Purse -
Operation Christmas Child
 Last week our Lower & Middle School Students heard from a representative from Samaritan's Purse.  She gave the students a handout regarding the Operation Christmas Child program, and gave them a challenge to see which class could bring in the most filled shoeboxes to be sent overseas for this program. We are thrilled to be a part of this ministry, and last year we even received correspondence from a child who was the recipient of a gift box from ODCA!  We encourage you to make this a family project in making a gift box (we have extra boxes available in the office if you need one).  If you are not able to put together a box but would still like to be a part of this ministry - it costs $7.00/shoebox to ship them overseas. Would you consider supporting the cause by sending in funds to help ship what is donated?  If so, please send your cash contribution in an envelope marked (Shipping Samaritan's Purse)
 
Last day to submit filled shoebox or cash mailing donation is Friday, November 15th 9:00 a.m.

Work Day (COD/ODCA)
Saturday, October 26th
  

 On Saturday, October 26th we will share in a COD/ODCA workday here from 9:00-1:00.  Outdoor weeding, indoor cleaning, and various other projects will be done this day to keep our building/grounds nice!  If you wish to come out and work feel free to join us (you must sign in with Dr. Dawes so that you can earn service hours for your time worked).

We are thankful for various organizations that support and offer EITC & OSTC Scholarships to eligible families in our school. PICTURE RETAKES
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25th
  

If you were not happy with the way your child's school photo turned out, you may have your child's photo retaken on Friday, October 25th at 9:15a.m.  You will need to return their photo packet (but you keep the class photo).  Once returned they will send a replacement pack with their new photo.  If your child is new or was absent on the original photo day, please have them get their photo taken, you may also order a packet (order forms are still available in the school office).
  

BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION CONTEST

 

Please print the attached collection sheet
(link->) Box Top Collection Sheet to be part of the contest to win a class ice cream party!  The submission deadline is November 1, so please send all boxtops to school on the sheets by October 24. If you already have boxtops on other collection sheets, that is great, just put your grade on the sheet and they will still count toward the contest.  Loose boxtops or boxtops in bags will not count, please glue them onto the collection sheets.
