The parent's will be starting prayer time again on Monday mornings from 8:30 - 9:00 starting on September 23rd. We'll meet in the conference room which is located in the church office hallway. We welcome all parents to come for as long or as little as your schedule permits. We are also very diligent at ending on time.
This is a wonderful time of blessing as we uplift our school, faculty and student body in prayer.

ODPA (Open Door Parents Association)

We had our first Parent Association meetings on Tuesday, but still have an evening one scheduled for tonight (Thursday) . Please join us as we will be discussing up-coming events for our school. We will also be assigning coordinator positions for events as well as signing up volunteers for our September events. The Race for Education and the All School Dinner are just two of our events to be discussed. If you are a new family to the school, this is a great opportunity to find out what each event is about and how you can get involved. There is much to be discussed so please come join us either date/time.

 KidsStuff books have arrived! They will be coming home with your youngest child in the next day or so. Please look over the book ad if you are interested in purchasing it, please keep the book and return payment of $25.00 cash (or check made payable to Open Door Christian Academy). If you are not interested in purchasing the book, please return it to school tomorrow. You are welcome to take orders from friends and relatives, collect their payment and send their orders to the office and we will then forward home any extra books. We hold this sale due to the fact a number of our school families enjoy having them to shop with. |

Back To School Night (Grades 1-8)

 On Tuesday, September 17th we will hold our Back to School Night for our families in Grades 1-8. Please note that we do request to have parents only (no students) at this event. It will begin in the Sanctuary at 6:50 p.m.to review our year and changes for our school. Following this session you will visit your child's class and also when you are there sign up for your parent/teacher conference. We hope to have each family represented this evening! |
 Please keep an eye out for a Joe Corbi's packets to be coming home with your child after Back to School night. Corbi's is a school sale we have done for the past 3 years. Please note this is totally optional, but we welcome families to participate. Last year we earned over $2000 for the school from this sale. This year each student will have the opportunity to tape Dr. Dawes to the wall for each 5 items sold. Please visit the display table that will be in the lobby on Back to School night! In advance, we would like to thank you for your support.  Instructions for Purchasing Lunches
- Monday Lunch Program
- Hot Lunch Program (Wed/Fri)
We know this was in last week's post - but we have some parents not following the guidelines for placing lunch orders - please carefully review the procedures below. Orders not done correctly will be returned and not processed. Our school offers a Monday Lunch Program and a Hot Lunch (Wed/Fri) Program - these programs are run by two different groups so the instructions below will explain the process of how to order your child's lunch so their order can be properly filled. Prior to the start of the month your child will be given a Monday Lunch Order form and a Hot Lunch Order Form. If your copy gets lost a link will also be included on the Weekly Connections where you are able to print a replacement copy. Monday Lunch & Hot Lunch Orders MUST be turned in by Monday 9:00 a.m. in order to be tallied for that week. LATE orders will NOT BE ACCEPTED. - You can order by the week or for the entire month-but it must be rec'd by Monday 9am.
- Payments and order forms for Monday Lunch and Hot Lunch MUST be kept separate. If you have multiple children you can combine payment for all of their Monday lunch orders on one check (or cash payment) and combine all Hot Lunch orders on another check (or cash payment). If you do this, please be sure each child turns in their own order form to their teacher (do not combine the orders onto one sheet). Mark on the order forms which child/grade has the family's payment.
- ALL Payments must be EXACT amount - change will NOT be given. If payment is short - the order will not be processed until correct amount is sent in.
- There are no refunds for missed lunches/sick days. (If there is a snow day a voucher will be issued).

Please be sure to check out ODCA's facebook page. We will be using our facebook as an electronic year book. Photos from trips and events will be uploaded throughout the year. If you "like" the page, you will get automatic updates to let you know when something new is posted! We would love to have 100 "LIKES" by Christmas - do you think we can make that goal?

ALL SCHOOL DINNER - Friday, Sept 27th

Dinner reservation time has begun for our All School Dinner! The link below is the order form that was sent home in paper copy today.
We encourage you to pre-order your tickets now! Advance ticket sales are due by Wednesday, September 25th 9:00 a.m. Tickets will also be for sale at the door for an extra $1.00/per ticket - and seating will be done based on availability. Some dinner seating's sold out last year - so purchasing your tickets in advance is they way to go.
For those of you who checked to help at the All School Dinner on your service hour form - you should have received an email from Sign Up Genius so you can select your date/time of service help. If you did not receive an email, or you would like to help with this event, please contact Lisa Thomas at odpa2013@gmail.com . Help is still needed before or on the day of the event! |
