Weekly Connections

  

School has begun for our grades 1-8 students and we are excited to have the Preschool and Kindergarten kids here next week!

  

We hope you have gone to our website and have taken the time to read the Parent/Student Handbook and return your purple handbook sign off forms.  If you have not done this already, please take time today to get this done!

  

We would like to welcome you all to the new school year.  We just wanted to send out a quick Weekly Connections this week and will do a longer one next week when hopefully all of our families will have had a chance to sign up for our newsletters. 

  

Race for Education:

We have sent home this week your child's Race For Education Packet. Please review this packet and the instruction page for working on your race labels.  Your child's race label sheet is due back on Thursday, September 6th.  Joyce Brown will be looking for helpers in the classroom to work with the kids on their mailers.  Please email her if you are able to help.  This is one area that is a great time to earn your service hours!  email: 4brownsaroundtown@comcast.net

  

Milk:

Due to the increase in milk prices - we wanted to update everyone that the daily milk price is $0.75/each.  The half year and full year price are still the same as noted on the milk form.  Please note if you turned in a milk request form and no payment - the money is now due!

  

Music Lesson:

Our instrument teachers have sent home an information letter and sign-up sheet if you are interested in your child having lessons.   Please return your form quickly as lessons will be filled on a first come basis.  Students renting instruments from ODCA  are reminded that their rental fees must be paid beginning with the September 1st music payment and continuing each month through May.

  

Lunch Program:

Our Hot Dog & Hot Lunch program will begin on September 9th.  More details about our lunch program and how it works will come home next week.

  

Earn money for ODCA when you shop at GIANT:

If you have a Giant Bonus Shopping Card - each year you can enroll in their A+ School Rewards Program.  They will accept sign-ups for this school year starting on September 1st (Please note you must re-enroll each school year)  If you wish to enroll online please go to:  www.giantfoodstores.com/aplus   Our School ID# 05805.  Or you may complete the form that will come home with your child next week.  Thank you in advance for using your grocery shopping dollars to support ODCA!

  

Open Door Parents Association Meeting (ODPA)

We invite each parent out to our Open Door Parents Association Meeting.  The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 10th at 9:00.  Please join us to learn about how our parents group works and for new changes this year in our programs!
