To All ALERT Members:

A new training video developed by the Maryland Chief's of Police Association titled "Arrive Alive" has been posted under the "videos" tab under "Resources".  Prince George's County Police Department lost two officers in the line of duty earlier this year.  One officer's incident was the driving force for developing this video and is depicted in the video.  Sadly, the officer was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the driver seat of his patrol vehicle, but his rookie passenger was belted.  Following a brief check-up at the local Hospital Emergency Room the rookie was released and returned to work within a few days. The P. G. County Police Department has made this video mandatory for all uniform personnel during their 2013 annual in-service training.  You are welcome to use the video for any of your training programs.

Many of you have noticed and experienced difficulty with either  locating articles/training materials or not being able to open items which you previously were able to view at www.alertinternational.com, our website.  towards the end of the conference week, not exactly sure what day, was hacked.  Inorder to ensure that all of the intruder's software programming was removed from the site the entire site had to be taken down and replaced with the last backup version that we were sure was not compromised.  In doing this repair most of the articles and training materials that were previously loaded while the conference was going on in Austin were lost and had to be reloaded.

Travis Yates has been working to bring those missing articles and conference photos, including presenter lesson plans and training materials, back onto the website.  I would ask that if there is something that we missed in this process please let us know by sending an email to [email protected]. Chief Mike Robbs materials for "Distractive Driving" are included in the materials under the Password Protected Members Section.

The Regional Representative listing has been revised to provide the current listing of Regional Representatives under the "Regions" button below the "About" tab on the menu bar.  Al Liebno, President, is asking that each member become familar with your Regional Representative and communicate your needs and, if possible, notify your Representative of any support you may either personnally or departmentally provide for Regional Activities during the upcoming year.  It would be great if each Region could hold a 1-2 day Regional Conference before the next Annual Conference.
