Life is Unpredictable....
Enjoy the Moment

I certainly can appreciate the above sentiment. First, I apologize for not sending out a February Newsletter.  I found myself rather occupied with a situation that literally came out of the blue.  I spent the first week of February in the hospital with a vascular problem that required an angioplasty of my left femoral artery.  This was a huge surprise.  I was having intense pain and coldness in my left foot and toes and found out that the vessels and arteries were not working and were not supplying blood to this area.  Long story short....I had my left leg amputated below the knee on February 18 and spent the next three weeks in the hospital.  For those of you who may not be aware, my right leg was amputated 37 years ago so I am now a bilateral amputee and adjusting to this new situation.  I am waiting to heal which is taking longer than I had hoped so it may be a while before I can get a second prosthesis and get back on my feet.  In the meantime, I am working and being able to plan trips for all of you has been the force that keeps me smiling and upbeat.  Don't hesitate to call....I am ready and able to help you take your dream vacation.

Holiday Travel

NOW is the TIME to think about Holiday Travel.
I don't mean to rush the year away but resorts and cruise ships fill up very quickly over the holidays and we don't want you to be disappointed.  The first accommodations to sell out are high end luxury and family suites. People book these more than a year out.  This also applies to summer vacation travel.  Call us to book your special trip.

HAWAII

We are so excited about our December trip to the Hawaiian Islands and want all of you to join us on this incredible adventure.  Most of us will meet in San Francisco (enjoy a day or two there if you like) and board Virgin America's aircraft with accessible bathroom.  No, this is not a typo....I said an accessible bathroom!!!  How cool is this?
Arrive in Honolulu on December 7 and enjoy three nights at the Waikiki Marriott.  You will be within walking/rolling distance to shopping and restaurants.  The next two days will be filled with excursions to Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center.  On December 10 we will board NCL's Pride of America which has just undergone a 400 Million Dollar Enhancement.  To read about everything that was done just click here....
Cruise with us in your accessible stateroom and visit Maui, Kauai, Hilo and Kona and enjoy fully accessible shore excursions planned just for us.
Staterooms are limited so this trip will be a reality for a lucky few.  Call me now to reserve your space.  I hope you can join us.

TRAVEL TIPS
Always hand carry medications, items of value (jewelry), etc.
Bring extra batteries for any items that need them.
Bring a power strip for all your electronics.
Have an extra pair of glasses.
Carry a list of all medications including dosage.
Be sure to have extra medical supplies (catheters, prosthetic stuff, insulin supplies, etc.).
Bring plenty of sunscreen if heading to a warm climate.
Ask us about renting mobility equipment so you can lighten your load.
Think about using a luggage service to deliver your luggage to your destination.
Keep your passport up to date.  Remember, it must be valid for at least 6 months past last day of travel.
Visit the TSA website if you have concerns about traveling with a disability or special needs.
Pack a sense of adventure....get off the beaten path and try something new.
Pack a sense of humor....be able to laugh at yourself.
Bring lots of patience with you.  You are going on vacation, don't be in a hurry.
Wake up early every day.  Enjoy the morning....it can be the best part of the day.
Wherever you go, get out and meet the locals.  This can be the highlight of your trip.
Try out the public transportation.  You often meet the best people riding the bus, metro or train.
Buy Travel Insurance....you will be glad you did. Don't leave home without it.
Most of all, don't forget your smile and a great attitude.  Remember, you are very fortunate to be out there seeing the world.

Have a GREAT TRIP wherever the road may take you!
