Thoughts To Live By

The last week of Jesus' earthly life was certainly a turbulent time!  First, Jesus entered Jerusalem to fanfare, but later the same people who shouted hosanna called for Jesus' death.  The disciples' emotions went up and down like a roller coaster, from ecstatic to terrified, then to joyful!

In Matthew 26:56, Scripture says that after Jesus' arrest, all the disciples deserted Jesus and fled, probably in fear for their own safety.  Right when times got really tough, they ran off and abandoned Jesus.  Strangely enough, in Luke 24:52 they returned to Jerusalem after Jesus' ascension full of great joy.  What made the difference?  Living through the horror of Jesus' death, fearful for their own lives, these men showed themselves to be flawed human beings.  But after spending intensive time with their risen Lord, and shortly thereafter experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit, their fears gave way to victory.

Isn't a similar situation faced by Jesus' followers today?  When Christians rely on their own ability to handle crisis, their fears often multiply.  But when believers spend time at Jesus' feet and rely on the Holy Spirit, they will be empowered to overcome their fears and joyfully serve Him in spite of obstacles or opposition.

When you drink deeply at His fountains, you will be more enabled to give the water of life to those around you, including your precious little ones!  So take from Him, and give to them!

We only have 17 more days of preschool left. The year has gone by so quickly!  I wish I could keep this class - each one of them has become very special to me and I hate to give them up!  It has been such a joy working with each one of them!
