Heart to Heart Talk

Do you ever feel frustrated when your child/children do not follow the rules?  Or when you ask them to do something and they respond with the question, "Why?"  At the ripe ages of four and five, children may not realize that adults provide rules and directions to keep children safe and help them succeed.  The Israelites were no different.  When Joshua first urged the Israelites to trust God and enter the Promised Land, the children of Israel refused (Numbers 13 - 14).  God had a great plan for His people; He was going to make them successful and keep them safe.  But the people could not see the big picture.  They, perhaps like your children, thought they should be the ones in charge.

After 40 years of wondering in the wilderness, the people were finally ready to trust in God and follow His plan.  Two spies coming from Rahab's house proclaimed that all the nations feared the Israelites and their God.  The Israelites decided to follow God's instructions, even though marching around the city for seven days and blowing their horns may have made little sense to them.  How would walking around make the great walls of Jericho fall?  God's power would make the walls crumble!  All the Israelites had to do was obey.

Has God ever asked you to do something that did not make sense to you?  Have you ever felt like following your own agenda rather than the unknown, and perhaps unclear, path that God has chosen for you?  When you come to a decision of this kind, just look back to those in the Bible who followed God's path and were blessed.  God provided.  He kept them safe and helped them succeed.  Remember that God is bigger - bigger than your fears; bigger than your current challenges; bigger than your past, present, and future.

Thank you to all who provided paper towels for the classroom!

Our classroom Easter party is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1st.  Hope Niemier is coordinating the party.  Laura Barros and Misty Silveus signed up to provide refreshments.  Mallika Klingaman will plan a devotional time or read stories about Easter.  Thank you ladies for volunteering!!!!  That week is a busy week - Easter Party, Field Trip to Ritter's, and Good Friday (no school!)
