Welcome to
First United Methodist Church
of Michigan City
Greetings!
Six, count 'em, six months have come and gone. How did that happen? It went by too fast, and at the same time it seems like I have known many of you all my life. Andrea is at her Mom's in Jamaica and sends her love.
This Sunday I will preach at Michigan City for the last time. My sermon will be taken from the Sermon on the Mount, in particular, the blessings or Beatitudes as we have come to call them. We will gather, praise God, be blessed by His presence and the attendance of each one of us there.
My time with you has been a blessing and has enriched our lives. I will continue to pray for you, and I hope you will continue to pray for us.
See you Sunday, Pastor Larry

Last Sermon By Pastor Larry on 6/24/12
"SERMON ON THE MOUNT"
Matthew 5:1-12
|
On Sunday, June 24, at 12:00 noon,
we will be honoring
Pastor Larry and Andrea
with a potluck.
Please plan on attending!
|
Let's welcome Pastor Gwen Roberts and church visitors by wearing our name tags. Name tags are a "Yes" to visitors and guests that God sends our way to minister to. We wear name tags because the church of the Christ is not about its members but is about those who have not yet become members.
It is a great and holy habit to get into each and every Sunday.
|
To welcome Pastor Gwen Roberts, we will be having a Potluck Reception after the 10:45 church service on Sunday, July 15th.
There will be sign-up sheets on the Welcome Center in the Narthex for those planning to attend and for listing what savory dishes you will be sharing!
Please share in this special time of celebration & fellowship.

| Confirmation Class
Our church is offering a Confirmation Class beginning on Sunday mornings. Any student 6th-12th grade who is interested in being confirmed as a member of the church is welcome to join. Classes will take place Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:30am in room 311.
Sign-up sheets are in the Narthex. If you have questions or would like more information please contact Kate Triemstra at 219-680-7313 or katiebear2482@yahoo.com.
Also
The youth confirmation class is looking for members to come talk to them about what it means to be a Christian, what it means to be a disciple, and what it means to be a Methodist. If you would like to talk to the youth about one of these topics, please contact Kate Triemstra in person, by email katiebear2482@yahoo.com or by phone 219-680-7313. These topics will be discussed starting mid June and continue through the summer. You can talk for five minutes or an entire class period, either way, the youth would love to hear your input. Thank you!

New Changes
Some of you may know that we have had some changes to our committees. We now have a Nurturing committee - one we have never had before. The former Education committee is now part of this Nurturing committee and is in the process of planning activities for all ages. We are looking for fun ideas for fellowship time. Consequently, if you have ideas or would like to help or plan an activity, please contact Judy Commers at 219-326-0597.

Scrip Fund Raiser
We will be selling scrip cards the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month in the Narthex.
If we don't have the scrip in stock we can order it and have it within a couple days.
Thanks to all of you loyal supporters and for those of you that haven't stopped to check the program.
Please do stop by and say Hi! Karen Durnell
