Jill

"I can't do it!" declared my 12-year-old daughter as she worked on putting in a zipper on her 4-H sewing project.

"You can do it!" I responded with the enthusiasm of a cheerleader at a football game.

"I can't, mom," she choked out as the tears began to fall.

We've all been there. Faced with something that feels overwhelming, we finally get to the end of ourselves (Tweet This!). We want to give up. We want to run away. And we probably would if it wasn't for someone who comes alongside of us and gives us the pep talk we desperately need.

As a mom, you are the COI, Chief Officer of Inspiration, in your family. You believe in your kids, cheer on your husband, and encourage a friend who is feeling down. Your power to inspire is a gift you give to others!

Sometimes encouraging words provide inspiration. Other times, we can inspire using God's words and sharing a Bible verse. Still other times, inspiration happens when we remind someone of the talents and experience they already have.

In the case of my daughter, she needed me to intervene and simplify the project. We broke the sewing project into smaller, doable steps. Her feelings of being hopeless and overwhelmed were transformed into feelings of hope and the possibility of accomplishment.

She just needed a little inspiration.

Here at Hearts at Home, we want to inspire you so you can inspire your family! We hope you find this edition of Hearts on-the-Go just the inspiration you need today! And if you're not already part of the conversation over on our Facebook page, come join us so you can be inspired each and every day!

Joining you in the journey,

How a Hearts at Home Mom Unleashes Her Power to Inspire

Beginning each day in God's word, I give my marriage, children, and day to God. It's a great reminder that the people and experiences God provides are really a gift. I'm then able to handle the stressful morning, interruptions throughout the day, and unmet daily expectations with a better (although, not perfect) attitude. This hopefully inspires better reactions from my family and others.

Inspire Your Mother's Day

Mother's Day is almost upon us, that special day we set aside to celebrate all the ways we love our moms. While it's fun to have a day all about us, it can inadvertently become a day that showcases all the ways we could do or be better and leave us feeling inadequate and less than.

To help you remember there are NO perfect moms, we are excited to share the new 7-day No More Perfect Moms Devotional Series available exclusively on the YouVersion Bible App and website. This 7-day series will be available starting on April 24th and run through the month of May.

To find the devotional, download the Bible App on your smart phone or tablet or go to http://www.bible.com.

Be inspired by embracing being perfected by the God who does his best work through the cracks in our lives.
