Inspired, Transformed...American Baptist Churches: Coming in November to a Church Near You!

We are excited for the release of our new film! Look for it in November on an ABC Celebration Sunday in churches all across the country and Puerto Rico.

Inspired, Transformed...American Baptist Churches, celebrating God's wonderful gift to us of being American Baptists by some of today's most important and tireless religious and social activists: Jimmy Carter, Suzan Johnson Cook, Luis Cortés, Jr., John Lewis, Tony Campolo, Joan Brown Campbell and Neville Callam. Referencing their personal stories, they remind us that we are a people always being inspired and transformed by the Spirit as we serve as the hands and feet of Christ.

Cupcakes? Really?!? FCBC Fresno Connects with Community

The First Chinese Baptist Church of Fresno, a recent recipient of the Matthew 25 Grant sponsored by ABCUSA, came across an opportunity to share donated pastries, bread and cookies. As Rev. Danny Jack explains, his hopes were not high for the ministry originally, but what came out of this outreach opportunity both amazed and humbled him. Learn More.

Prayer Time: AB Women Travel to Republic of Georgia

Six American Baptist women-Rev. Patricia Hernandez, Deborah Malave Diaz, Rev. Valerie Andrews, LaKeeyna Cooper, Rev. Angel Sullivan, and Virginia Holmstrom-traveled to the Republic of Georgia this summer. During their 2-week spiritual pilgrimage, they met with pastors and deacons in eastern Georgia and learned that 20 percent of the Baptist churches in Georgia are pastored by women. The afternoons included sharing cross-cultural experiences and encouragement as women in professional ministry. Pray for women who serve as pastors and church leaders in the U.S. and across the globe. Pray for ministries like American Baptist Women In Ministry and American Baptist Women's Ministries that encourage and empower women to serve God.

Where in the World is General Secretary Medley?

General Secretary A. Roy Medley travels and represents American Baptist Churches USA wherever he goes.

In late September, Medley met with the Theologians Conference Planning Team, who are working to plan an event which will take place prior to the Biennial Mission Summit in June 2015. Medley also spoke at the ABC of the Rocky Mountains 200 Year Celebration in Vail, Colorado. Throughout September and October, Medley has met with partners from the National Council of Churches, planners and leaders of the Baptist Muslim Dialog, and attended a Transformed by the Spirit Journey Team meeting. Learn more about this here.

Please continue to hold Dr. Medley in your prayers as he travels nationally and internationally, representing American Baptists at events in the coming months.
