EMERGE: Baptist Witness in the 21st Century

REGISTER TODAY! Visit the website:
www.abcemerge.com

"Emerge: Baptist Witness in the 21st Century" combines a Ministers Conference and Orientation to American Baptist Life, where conferees will explore emergent themes in Baptist theology of the Holy Spirit, postmodern witness and third millennium mission, in this 200th anniversary year of the historic Judson mission to Burma. The conference meets in Orlando, Florida, January 6-9, 2014. Bible study teachers, worship experiences, workshops and speakers will find their themes in Acts 1:8.

New in 2014! The Orientation to American Baptist Life track and Ministers Conference track will both have more flexibility in 2014 than in the past, with seminarians and new ministers able to elect to attend Ministers Conference workshops and ministers able to attend Orientation sessions.

*Note: Seminarians and new-to-ABC ministers will receive invitations to the Orientation to American Baptist Life. All others should register under "Emerge: Ministers Conference."

Matthew 25 Grant Applications Due September 1

This summer hungry people have received food, prisoners have received visits, children have received tutoring, immigrants have learned English, a homeless shelter has received new mattresses, a new free medical clinic has opened, and much more.  Awards from the Matthew 25 Grant have assisted 53 different ministries related to American Baptist churches as they serve as the hands and feet of Christ in their neighborhoods and beyond.

The Matthew 25 Grant, sponsored by ABCUSA, is funded by a generous donor whose goal is to help meet the needs of "housing, feeding, education and health with regard to the less fortunate."  Awards are made twice a year, in April and October, with application deadlines of March 1 and September 1.  To view the guidelines and download the application form, click here.

Where in the World is General Secretary Medley?
General Secretary A. Roy Medley travels and represents American Baptist Churches USA wherever he goes. After Mission Summit 2013: An American Baptist Biennial Gathering in Overland Park, KS, Dr. Medley travelled to Green Lake, WI, for the Holy Spirit Conference, followed by Greensboro, NC, to give greetings at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship General Assembly and Jamaica, where he attended the Baptist World Alliance Annual Gathering in communion with Baptists from across the globe.

In early August, Medley attended the Rhythms of the Spirit Conference, sponsored by ABCUSA, in Green Lake, WI.

Please continue to hold Dr. Medley in your prayers as he travels and represents American Baptists at events in the coming months.
