Mission Summit 2013 Concludes

 American Baptists gathered June 21-23 for Mission Summit 2013: An American Baptist Biennial Gathering in Overland Park/Kansas City, Kansas. The event featured dynamic speakers, powerful worship, and a new Mission Summit Conversations component, during which attendees engaged in dialogue about mission challenges faced by churches across the denomination.

Mission Summit Conversations Update! |
The Mission Summit Conversations were a  featured part of the Mission Summit/Biennial event. The Mission Summit Conversations allowed for an open opportunity for anyone attending the event to engage in meaningful dialogue about a topic of interest by self-selecting into a small group. These learnings will be used in November 2013 at the ABCUSA Mission Table event, a gathering of ABCUSA leaders, and beyond!
Summaries of the specific small group conversations are also available online. A dynamic website representing the many conversations throughout the weekend was set up by the American Baptist Computer Center, at www.missionsummitconversations.com.  Group facilitators are still uploading information and reflections to the site. Do not expect to see a complete set of information from the third round of conversations yet, as facilitators are organizing their thoughts and likely have not yet uploaded the information. Watch the ABCUSA website and Mission Summit Conversations website as groups are still reporting on their topics!

Rhythms of the Spirit - August 5-9, 2013 |

Looking to reconnect and spend time with God? "Rhythms of the Spirit" is a retreat that will be taking place at Green Lake Conference Center, August 5-9, 2013. Rev. Jeff Savage, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Springfield, Oregon, will be the keynote speaker at the conference, leading attendees in finding a balance in their daily lives.

Where in the World is General Secretary Medley? |
General Secretary A. Roy Medley travels and represents American Baptists Churches USA wherever he goes. Dr. Medley spent over a week in Overland Park, Kansas, attending Board of General Ministries meetings and Mission Summit 2013: An American Baptist Biennial Gathering. At the Board of General Ministries meeting, Medley was re-elected for a two-year term, which runs from January 1, 2014-December 31, 2015. Read more about his re-election here.
