School uniforms being given was a day of joyful chaos for these mothers and their children. The children had never had any piece of new clothing of any kind. They are so proud of their new uniforms. Thank you Sponsors!
They have now been in school for about a month, several for the first time. Here is what some of them are saying:
From John Mark, age 10. I thank God that the teachers say I am good in Math, English and Filipino. I also thank God that even if I get a stomachache sometimes, I always feel better. I think that when my mother gets sick sometimes, God gives strength to her. Please help me pray for my father that he will be healed from his sickness because he has a lot of sickness and he has been through many operations already.
From Juliet, age 10. I thank God that I am now good in English and Social Studies. I try my best because I want my teacher to be happy with me. I want to be a good student because this is a very good chance given to me to be a scholar so I can go to school. I learned in Sunday School that God is always there for me. I am excited to go to church every Sunday.
From Christina, age 8 . I thank God that I am slowly learning how to write now. I am happy to be a student like a normal child.
This group of children were uneducated, as are their parents Only one of the group had gone beyond 1st grade until they were sponsored. They did not have birth certificates so could not legally attend school. The pastor and church who have answered God's call to minister to them have worked hard to make it possible for the children to go to school and to have food and to grow strong in the Lord. The children are excited and happy to be going to school and very happy that they they get to eat everyday. Before being sponsored, they had too many hungry days and were not very healthy. It has been great to see the changes that have happened in a short time.
