School uniforms being given was a day of joyful chaos for these mothers and their children. The children had never had any piece of new clothing of any kind. They are so proud of their new uniforms. Thank you Sponsors!
They have now been in school for about a month, several for the first time. Here is what some of them are saying:
From John, age 11. I thank God because I know how to read in all my subjects now. I enjoy going to school just like the other children because before I thought I had no chance of going to school.
From Cherry Ann, age 6. I am thankful to God because I have learned in all my subjects -- slowly each day. I try my best to understand our lessons and be a good student.
From Mariel, age 10. I thank God because I have now started learning how to read even just a little bit. I am really happy because I want to learn how to read and write.
From Danesa, age 14. I thank God because I learn every day. I love English and Math. I am thankful that I have not been sick this month. Even if my mother gets sick sometimes, she still has the strength to cook food and bring our packed lunch to school everyday at lunchtime.
This group of children were uneducated, as are their parents Only one of the group had gone beyond 1st grade until they were sponsored. They did not have birth certificates so could not legally attend school. The pastor and church who have answered God's call to minister to them have worked hard to make it possible for the children to go to school and to have food and to grow strong in the Lord. The children are excited and happy to be going to school and very happy that they they get to eat everyday. Before being sponsored, they had too many hungry days and were not very healthy. It has been great to see the changes that have happened in a short time.
