Even in the rain, the children at the garbage dump come to get food. They bring empty plastic containers they found in the trash and washed. The containers were filled with warm nutritious soup that they really like. The last time we visited, there were whole boiled eggs in the soup and that made it even more special. That morning we bought enough bananas to give one to every child who came as well the mothers who came with their children.

We sponsor some children in this garbage dump, but there are many more still waiting. They want to go to school like other children. Even at a young age, they know education is the way they will escape the extreme poverty in which they live.

We also have many older children and teens who have been to school, but cannot finish because their parents are unable to pay the school expenses so they are at risk of dropping out and not finishing high school. These young people also need sponsors.
