August 26, 2015. These very days are warnings of troubled waters in the near future. Those who can hear and see are called today to keep watch and pray. God's focus is to keep our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Satan is tempting believers to whine and wring their hands because of the current conditions. Neither worry nor dread ever accomplished the will of God. But dropping to your knees in prayer and supplication brings results from your Father. Cry out to Him with your whole heart. He hears.

August 26, 2015. Life feels real muddled right now. You feel overwhelmed and in a hole. It isn't muddled but the overwhelming feeling makes it seem that way. I know you want to know what to do? Retreat to the familiar until you can get your bearing. Now line out what is before you. First do what you must do, then again, do what must be done. It will be a little hard at first, but keep things in order and before long the muddling will disappear and you will be on a higher plane.

August 26, 2015. Rise up! Rise up and be the one whom I have called you to be. You are one, because I have called you to be so. Radiate and display My glory as one who understands whose you are. Be slow to speak, thus allowing your actions of faith to be louder than your speech. You wonder how you can fully know what to do when challenging situations arise. Don't lean on your finite understanding, but upon My infinite wisdom. Know who you are and act accordingly.

Ministry to Children in the Philippines

When we first met this young lady, Irish, she was a pretty little girl of 14. Her family were poor farmers in a remote mountain community in the Philippines. She had completed only 6th grade because that was as far as she could go without going to the city to continue her education. That was not even a dream for her. 

Before FCM came, most of the children in the community did not go to school past 6th grade. They married young, had babies and continued the cycle of poverty. Most homes have no electricity or indoor plumbing. 

FCM began to sponsor promising young people in the community and help them go to high school then college. Irish was accepted in one of the best universities in the Philippines and graduated last March with a BS Degree in Financial Management. She just got a job in the offices of city government in one of the largest cities in the Philippines. 

We are very proud of Irish for her accomplishments. She worked very hard to get her education. It was not always easy. God gave her abilities, but without the support of a sponsor and the mentoring and care of a pastor and his wife, she would have been locked in a cycle of poverty with no escape. She has a great future ahead of her.

Something else happened that was not foreseen. The younger children in the mountain community saw what happened with that first group and it gave them hope that they too could go to high school, even college and rise out of poverty as well as help their families. It has changed an entire community.

Kathy Bohlin is Executive Vice President of FCM & Director of our missions in the Philippines. She works closely with local pastors who care for more than 800 FCM sponsored children in 24 locations on 4 islands. In the Philippines the children affectionately call her Ate (Ah tay) Kathy.
