Every Saturday afternoon many children gather near the pier in Tagbilaran City, Philippines. They come and receive food and hear about Jesus. Last Saturday we gave each one a new toothbrush and small tube of toothpaste. We are grateful to the American dentist who provided them. It was very special to the children.
This note is from Susan McCarson, one of our team members from the US: "Today we visited the children near the pier. FCM has several scholars (sponsored children and youth) living there. It was a steep and rocky path that led to the homes -- especially for this middle aged woman! All of the cooking is done outside in large pots. There is very little running water or electricity. The pastors have a feeding program for the children. Without this, many of the children go without food. Thank you sponsors for making a difference in the lives of these beautiful children."
The children who gather are very poor and most do not attend school. Though they are old enough and smart enough, their parents do not have money to pay the required fees so they are not allowed to attend. You can make a big impact on their lives by helping with a donation to buy the food and/or by sponsoring one or more of them to get an education.
