Dustin is 16. She and her large family live at a garbage dumpsite. A recent typhoon washed away everything the family owned and they had to start over. Her single mother works hard, but her income is barely enough to provide food for the family. Some days they don't have enough to eat. Dustin has been sponsored for several years and is now in her first year of college. She hopes someday to be a pediatric doctor because she wants to help children.
Here is a note we received from Dustin. "I enjoy the company of other young people in our church every Sunday, during overnight prayer meeting every Friday and at dawn intercession every Saturday. I am also a student in the School of Kingdom Builders and I learn a lot about spiritual matters. Thank you sponsor. I found Jesus as my personal Savior and Lord. I am in first year college and I am thinking of sponsoring a child when I finish my course. Thank you for helping me. I am praying for you and your family."
A sponsor has made a difference in Dustin's life that will last forever. We are confident that God will use her to impact many lives in the future. The education, the food, the discipleship and mentoring she has received will direct her life in a totally different direction than would have been possible without the help she has received. You can make an eternal difference in the life of a child (or a group of children). Consider sponsoring a child or, if you already sponsor one or more, consider adding another. You probably will never meet here on earth a child in a far away country that you help educate or feed, but one day you may see that child in heaven and know he or she is there because you gave to help them.
