Rafael is 14. His large family lives at a garbage dumpsite. His father works on another island, but sometimes makes so little income, he is not able to send any money to the family to help them. The family mostly survives on what they find in the dumped garbage. Without the help of a sponsor, Rafael would likely repeat the poverty cycle. Instead he is determined to finish school and wants to be a soldier to protect those he loves.
Here is a note we received from Rafael. "Thank you sponsor, for helping me with my school expenses. I am determine to go to school with or without food because we sometimes have no food in our house. I am convinced that through education I can have brighter future. I enjoyed so much our Christmas party and the new t-shirt I received."
A sponsor has made a difference in Rafael's life that will last forever. The education, the food, the discipleship and mentoring he has received will direct his life in a totally different direction than it would be if left on his own. Thank you Sponsors, Partners and Friends! What a joy it is that God gives us the privilege of being part of His plan for this young life and so many others.
You can make an eternal difference in the life of a child (or a group of children). Consider sponsoring a child or, if you already sponsor one or more, consider adding another. You probably will never see here on earth a child in a far away country that you help educate or feed, but one day you may see that child in heaven and know he or she is there because you gave to help them.
