Thank you for your prayers for Kathy and her brother Jonas in the Philippines, as they and others hear God together concerning care for widows and orphans. She will also be doing some preparation for the conference next February when a group of 5 of us will be going. She will be gone 2 weeks, returning November 24.
Don't forget Christmas. If you intend to help give Christmas to the sponsored children and their families, remember that we need your gifts before Thanksgiving so we can get the money to the pastors the first week of December.
 These children have not had an easy year. Their single mother was already struggling, then the earthquake destroyed the small house where they lived. They seem to never have enough to eat. and, until sponsored, could not even go to school. Because of their poverty, their mother could not pay the required fees and buy the required supplies so education was not possible. One of our pastors found the mother and her children living in desperate conditions. She wrote to see if we could help. We did and the children now go to school and have some help with food, but they still struggle with not having any extra for special events like Christmas.
Christmas can be just another day of hunger. We want to give a gift to these children and hundreds more who will not have anything unless someone helps.
Our desire is to give a gift to every child sponsored by FCM as well as to their siblings. For most of them, it will be the only gift they receive. If funds are there, we will also provide extra food or a meal for each family. Some favorite gifts the children like are t-shirts, shampoo & bath soap, flip flops and bath towels and, of course, food. Some of the things many of us take for granted are very special for them. Kathy Bohlin is Executive Vice President of FCM & Director of our missions in the Philippines. She works closely with local pastors who care for almost 900 FCM sponsored children in 24 locations on 4 islands. In the Philippines the children affectionately call her Ate (Ah tay) Kathy.
