Kathy leaves today for 2 weeks in the Philippines. Thank you for your prayers as she and others hear God together concerning care for widows and orphans. She will also be doing some preparation for the conference next February when a group of 5 of us will be going. She will be gone 2 weeks, returning November 24. Don't forget Christmas. If you intend to help give Christmas to the sponsored children and their families, remember that we need your gifts before Thanksgiving so we can get the money to the pastors the first week of December.
 Most of the families of our sponsored children are so poor they cannot even buy a chicken for their family for Christmas dinner. Some can be found scavenging behind restaurants for discarded food just to have something to eat. Last year one of our FCM pastors in the Philippines gave a roasted chicken to each family (2 chickens if the family was large). Some of them cried because a roasted chicken was, to them, an extravagant gift. It was a blessing they knew came from God and they were thankful to Him.
Our desire is to give a gift to every child sponsored by FCM as well as to their siblings. For most of them, it will be the only gift they receive. If funds are there, we will also provide extra food or a meal for each family. Some favorite gifts the children like are t-shirts, shampoo & bath soap, flip flops and bath towels. Some of the things many of us take for granted are very special for them. You can help put smiles on lots of faces. Go to Christmas for Children.

Kathy Bohlin is Executive Vice President of FCM & Director of our missions in the Philippines. She works closely with local pastors who care for almost 900 FCM sponsored children in 24 locations on 4 islands. In the Philippines the children affectionately call her Ate (Ah tay) Kathy.
