This is Lyndy, age 12. This is her first year to be sponsored. Her mother died last year when Typhoon Pablo hit their home. Her father, an unskilled laborer, has gone away looking for work and they have not heard from him for a long time. As the oldest of 4 children, she carries a lot of responsibility for one so young. Lyndy and her 3 younger siblings have been left with their elderly grandparents who are very poor. The children had to quit going to school because their grandparents have no money and are unable to earn enough to send the children to school. Lyndy, age 12 has been sponsored and is going to school now.
Because she is sponsored, Lyndy and her siblings have received supplemental food and nutrition. Last month, Greg, their overseeing pastor reported that the children's health has improved significantly because of the extra nutrition. He said they no longer suffer malnutrition.
The younger children, age 10, 9 and 8 asked recently if they could go to school too. We are praying that God will speak to someone who would like to sponsor these children so they can join their sister and go to school. Update about Homes for Widows and Orphans
Kathy will be going to the Philippines next week to meet with a lawyer and social worker regarding the mandate from God to care for widows and orphans. She will also meet with some of the pastors who are currently caring for widows and orphans and are standing on ready to do more. They will hear the Lord together about the next steps to take. She will also be doing some preparation for the conference next February when a group of 5 of us will be going.
Thank you for your prayers for Kathy as she travels. Pray also for those who will meet with her. Pray that they clearly hear the plan of God for this undertaking. Kathy Bohlin is Executive Vice President of FCM & Director of our missions in the Philippines. She works closely with local pastors who care for almost 900 FCM sponsored children in 24 locations on 4 islands. In the Philippines the children affectionately call her Ate (Ah tay) Kathy.
