This little girl lives under a bridge in the Philippines. A few years ago Ras went under that bridge with a local Filipino pastor. Children of all ages came from everywhere to see "the white headed American" and to get some good food that had been prepared for them. After they gathered, Ras had opportunity to speak a word of encouragement to them. They listened attentively to every word. Then he asked, "How many of you don't go to school, but you want to?" Many many hands went up. Then he said, "If you want to go to school, I will help you." That was a faith statement as we did not have funds sitting in the bank waiting to be used. But God provided and those "under the bridge children" who never thought they could go to school have done so because of the Partners, Sponsors and Friends who gave. One couple in south Texas sponsors 15 children who live under that bridge. The children go to school every day. They go to church every Sunday. God is changing their lives. Someday they will no longer live in such a place. Instead they will live in a house and will have plenty of food to eat and to share with others.
The children still talk about the day that "nice and handsome old man from Texas with white hair" came under the bridge and told them he would help them go to school. Ras is a much loved legend in that community. God is changing their lives. Someday they will no longer live in such a place. Christmas is coming quickly -- only 2 months from now! Without our help, these children under the bridge and many other very poor children will not receive anything for Christmas. It is our desire to provide a gift for every sponsored child and their siblings. What better way is there to honor Jesus at this special time of year? Jesus loves children and is pleased when we care for and bless them.
You can make a child very happy this Christmas. Time is short. We need to receive your donations before Thanksgiving so we can get the money to the pastors in time to prepare Christmas for the children.
