Merry Joy is a very amazing young lady who has been sponsored by FCM for several years. Her mother is a widow with 10 children. The youngest is only 4. Her mother works very hard but has no skills and cannot provide even the most basic needs of her children. When Merry Joy was first sponsored, she was behind in school because, when she was younger, she could not attend school regularly. There was not enough money to pay for the requirements. However, Merry Joy caught up quickly, skipping 3 grade levels!! Now she is in college studying to be a teacher.
Another accomplishment -- Merry Joy is preaching in her church for a few weeks while her pastor recovers from throat problems. The word is that she is doing a very good job with that assignment. We are proud of Merry Joy and expect that she will be a success as an educator. We expect her to be a leader in her city and nation. Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like for her if she had not been sponsored. What a loss that would be for all of us.
About a year ago, one of Merry Joy's younger brothers was overheard saying, "I wish someone would sponsor me so I could go to school too." Good news! Three of her brothers are now sponsored and doing very well in school. God is watching over the fatherless and the widows.
God is raising up a new generation of young people who love the Lord. He will use young people like Merry Joy to transform the nations. Thank you for all you do to help the children and young people. They need you.

Kathy Bohlin is Executive Vice President of FCM & Director of our missions in the Philippines. She works closely with local pastors who care for almost 900 FCM sponsored children in 24 locations on 4 islands. In the Philippines the children affectionately call her Ate (Ah tay) Kathy.
