Open Doors of Opportunity -- An Update of "A New and Bigger Vision"
Loving Jesus through Caring for Widows and Orphans
Last fall God spoke to my heart about setting up a home for widows and orphans, a center for teaching the latest technology and a distribution center for food and nutrition. It is all part of His plan for transforming the Philippines. It is exciting to see how God is bringing this vision into focus. We are not sure where we will start with our first location, but let me share a few ways we see this happening before our eyes.
One of our pastors who lives near the epicenter of the big earthquake last fall has many stories of how God has used them to minister to the needs of people in that area. Even government officials have recognized the good care given to the children and youth and asked if they could send displaced, orphaned and abused children to them. What a testimony of God's love and care. When we visited last March, we saw tents, an outdoor kitchen, outdoor rest rooms and showers. There were widows and orphans and others who lost homes and possessions. Even the pastor and his family were living in a tent because their home had been destroyed. With funds sent by many of you for "disaster relief" FCM was able to build 2 bunkhouses on the church property. Each one sleeps 10. Since this place is already recognized by government officials as a good, healthy and safe place for children and teens, we wonder if perhaps this might be among our first locations.
On another island, one of our FCM pastors has offered land to build an orphanage and said he knows a widow who would be a good caretaker for the children and it would also help her. On that same island, a different pastor who ministers to many families who live as garbage scavengers has built "safe-rooms" where orphans and abandoned children can sleep without being worried for their safety. Still on that same island, another of our FCM pastors has been recognized for the good care given the children and government officials have requested their help to care for the poor children in their city. And another FCM pastor cares for 10 children and youth who live inside the church building.
We believe God is giving us 10 locations for these orphanages. We are so pleased that FCM pastors in the Philippines are being recognized even by the government as good caretakers of the children. God is also moving in possibilities for computer and technology training and a large building has been offered as a location to store and distribute food. God is speaking and we are listening.
All of this is part of a "new and bigger vision" God has given for transformation of the nation of the Philippines. God is raising up a new generation of godly young people who will be used by Him in their home nation and in nations around the world.
We invite you to be part of this "new and bigger vision" of transformation. Maybe God will lead you to help with the orphanages or the technology training or with providing healthy food and nutrition. We invite you to be a part of what God is doing.
