Pinecrest Community Center Expansion in Jeopardy

Does your family enjoy the Pinecrest Community Center? You don't have to be a Village resident to use this little neighborhood gem, and the Pinecrest People Mover even offers free transportation between the school and the community center every afternoon. It offers a wide variety of fitness and enrichment activities for all ages, from mommy and me to senior citizen programs, and even a gym where teens can work out after school. After considerable study, the Village decided to expand the community center last year, but these improvements are now in jeopardy.

The new Council will vote tomorrow (Tue Feb 10th at 7:00p.m.) to approve the $6 million dollar bond issue planned to finance these improvements. Some council members are questioning the expenditure. By all standard measures, the Village has ample (even excess) reserves, rising revenues as property values rebound, and a healthy balance sheet.

Please voice your opinion to the entire Pinecrest Village Council with a quick email to council@pinecrest-fl.gov as soon as possible.

Chapman Partnership Clothing Drive:

The Chapman Partnership, which assists the homeless in Miami-Dade County, is collecting:

Collections boxes are in the lobby of the EWM offices located at 550 South Dixie Highway in Coral Gables. Please help!
