Client Highlight - Pryor's Place
Keishaun Pryor and his wife, Ebony Pryor, together own Pryor's Place (Facebook page), a barber shop located in New Albany, Indiana. Pryor's Place's services
include: basic haircuts, designer haircuts, beard trims, eyebrow waxing, children haircuts, and women's shorter haircuts. Keishaun was a barber for 16 years in the New Albany area before opening his own shop in 2014. He decided to open his own business because he knows the barber business so well and has always enjoyed it. He felt that the New Albany area was in need of a barber shop with a fun, friendly environment.
Keishaun's mission is to have a traditional, family style barber shop where everyone is welcome. He strives to make sure people have a great experience at his shop and leave feeling satisfied and confident with themselves and their hair. When asked what he enjoys least about his business, Keishaun replied with "Empty waiting seats. I want Pryor's Place to be filled with customers every day."
Just like most business owners, Keishaun faced challenges when first opening his business. It was difficult for him to find the perfect location for his barber shop. Once he found his current location inNew Albany, he knew it would be a great fit for his business. One of the easier tasks in the beginning was finding a barber. Keishaun is very pleased with the barber he hired and feels that he is extremely experienced and versatile. Keishaun opened his business on October 28, 2014 after he started thinking seriously about it in late 2013. He feels that Pryor's Place had a successful opening and enjoys seeing returning and new faces come into his shop. As the business and customer base grows, Keishaun plans to hire more barbers.
Because his community is important to him, Keishaun is excited to provide the community with a safe environment for people to get their hair cut. He also feels that bringing jobs to the community is an important way his business contributes to the community. Keishaun, who has been a Southeast ISBDC client since April 2014, says, "Blayr Barnard and the entire Southeast ISBDC staff really helped me from start to finish. It was great! Everything that I could think of question-wise was answered clearly and honestly. When I hear that people are thinking of opening a business, I always refer them to the ISBDC."
Regional Director, Blayr Barnard, says "Keishaun planned for months on Pryor's Place and found a beautiful historic building he has transformed into a welcoming barber atmosphere." |
