Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month at Clearity
 Last month during ovarian cancer awareness month, Clearity continued to provide much-needed tumor blueprints and, with your help, raise awareness and funds to advance our mission. Thanks to DavidBartonGym for another successful Diane's Day event on September 20th and to the Wine Vault and Bistro for a wine tasting fundraiser on September 5th. With our first Cancer Tx 2.0 event in San Francisco, a radio appearance and proclamation, Clearity was raising awareness alongside survivors, advocates and organizations who are dedicated to the cause. Dr. Laura Shawver, founder of The Clearity Foundation talks about her diagnosis, treatment and why she started The Clearity Foundation. Dr. Shawver was diagnosed at age 49, in 2006. The Clearity Foundation Recognized by San Diego City Council for Patient Advocacy and Education
On September 26, at the San Diego City Council meeting, Councilmember Sherri S. Lightner presented a proclamation declaring September 2012 to be "Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month" in the City of San Diego.
 Lightner and fellow Councilmember Marti Emerald commended the contributions of local organizations The Clearity Foundation and the Ovarian Cancer Advocacy Alliance of San Diego for increasing awareness of the disease and advancing ovarian cancer research towards early diagnosis. There to accept the honor was Hillary Theakston, executive director of The Clearity Foundation, and Peg Ford, an ovarian cancer survivor and chair of the Ovarian Cancer Advocacy Alliance.

Dancing with Annette
Annette Bennington McElhiney, PhD was diagnosed with stage III Ovarian cancer in 2008 and since then, she has used painting as her lifeline. Her latest booklet, Dancing Joyfully, With or Without NED: A Blueprint using Art to Survive Ovarian Cancer documents, through a combination of poetry and paintings, her blueprint for coping with cancer, which includes a list of ovarian cancer research, memoirs, and other resources.
Annette emphasizes the importance of appreciating the moment as well as assembling a team with the survivor as the center. Annette donates all the money she makes from her paintings to ovarian cancer research, including The Clearity Foundation.

Run for Her 5K Run and Friendship Walk for Ovarian Cancer 
The 7th Annual Run for HerŪ 5K Run and Friendship Walk will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2012 to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and generate support for Cedars-Sinai Women's Cancer Program.
