Welcome Back to Trinity School!
We are off and running for the new school year. It's been a peaceful, but exciting, start to the year. It's been terrific for the faculty to be back in the classroom with the students, solving equations, reading great books and having great conversations. The school building is in good condition, in spite of some initial flooding our new security doors are working very well. The all-school picnic this past Sunday was a great time to meet new families and catch up with friends. We are looking forward to a great year together with you. Thank you for all of your support, and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Mr. Lee

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

Greenlawn Avenue is quite busy at times, in both mornings and afternoons.  We ask all parents and students who are driving to stop only along the west side (school side) of the street and not to stop in the middle of the street.  This is mainly a safety issue, but it is also a matter of preserving our good relationship with our neighbors.  We will have teachers outside, especially at the end of the day, helping to ensure good order and safety.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Mr. Lee

Attendance Policy

Trinity School has spent a good deal of time looking closely at our attendance policy. We studied policies at other schools in an effort to ensure that we are within the boundaries of what is considered reasonable, and we have decided on the following:
  • If a student misses more than ten class periods for a given subject in a semester, the school reserves the right not to grant credit in that subject.

Study Hall

Study hall is a free service offered to students after school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:00 in the locketeria.  The goal of study hall is to provide a quiet setting for students to do schoolwork or make up missed tests before being picked up for home or sports events. In addition, there is a special math study hall from 3:15 to 4:00 on Mondays in Room 105. Cancellations of study hall will be announced ahead of time in the school bulletin.

book-stacks-colorful.jpg Students who are going to be on campus after 3:30 p.m. are required to sign in and be in study hall in the locketeria by 3:30.  All students who are still in study hall at 5:00 are dismissed to the front gate.

To be dismissed from study hall, a parent or guardian needs to come into the school through the main, front door, then go down to the locketeria. Students may not exit the school without a parent or guardian. Students who live within walking distance can leave if there is a parental note to that effect on file in the school office. Students who are given rides by older students (who may be at Chamber Choir, math study hall or other supervised events after school) must be picked up from the locketeria by the student driver.

The usual on-campus school rules apply in study hall.  Students may have snacks. Students are expected to work independently, but those who want to work together may get permission from the study hall monitor. Students who are disruptive will not be able to remain in study hall.

Laptop computers for the eleventh and twelfth grades may be used in study hall in a designated space near the monitor and can only be used for classwork.

camera.jpg School Photos
On Thursday, September 15, beginning at 8:30 a.m., a professional photographer will be at school to take student photos. A copy of each student's photo will appear in the 2017 yearbook and each student will receive an ID card for free. Order forms to purchase photo packages will be sent home with students this week. The forms and payment go directly to the photographer on September 15, not to the school office.
Fall Field Day: Friday, September 16

From 8:50 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Field Day, '09

Friday, September 16, will be an exciting day for the students! It's our annual fall field day--a day of outdoor games and sports at Clay Park.  We will not be at the Greenlawn campus at all that day. Students should be dropped off at Clay Park by 8:50 in the morning. They will be dismissed from there at 2:15 in the afternoon. Clay Park is located on Laurel Road, west of 933, between Darden and Brick Roads. The best way to reach the park is to get on 933, turn west onto Darden Road, and right at Laurel.  The park will be to your left. Enter by the second (north) driveway.  We will meet by the pavilion.

Dress for the day is casual (blue jeans, shorts and t-shirts are acceptable). We ask parents to make sure their children are dressed modestly and tastefully--no torn or tattered clothing, no tank tops, no inappropriate pictures or messages on t-shirts, etc. Lunch will be provided for students and parent volunteers.

Field Day, 2, '09 A general field day and field trip permission agreement was included on the emergency form. Several  families have returned them but we are still missing many forms. Please return them as soon as possible. Students will not be allowed to take part in the fall field day if their forms are not returned.  If there is a medical reason a child cannot participate in the sports, please send a note.  In these cases students can often be assigned to help run events and keep score.

The Gate Photos
Parents, caregivers and students, our yearbook editor is requesting photos, lots of photos. When you take shots at class parties, school events, games, dances, Mock Trial, etc., please forward them to thegate2017@gmail.com. We would all love to see them in the yearbook next fall!

Study Skills Workshop

We will conduct our Study Skills Workshop for new students on Saturday morning, October 8, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  Please plan to arrive by 8:45 a.m. so we can begin on time.  Seventh-grade and other new incoming students, accompanied by a parent, should plan to attend.  Specific details will be mailed home.

PSAT
All sophomore and junior students will take the PSAT at Trinity School on Wednesday, October 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This test serves as preparation for the SAT, which many students take in the spring of their junior year. In addition, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation uses the junior year PSAT as their initial qualifying test.

Students need to bring two #2 pencils and their calculator (TI-84 or equivalent) to the test. They should be finished in time to attend part of their fourth period class.

Please address any questions to Dr. Kaiser, who can be reached at jkaiser@trinityschools.org.

Parents are encouraged to look at these guidebooks along with the students, and both parents and students are encouraged to give feedback to Dr. Kaiser at jkaiser@trinityschools.org, about the usefulness of the guidebook and how it might be improved in future years.
