Marketplace Open Enrollment runs Nov. 1 - Jan. 31


If you, or someone you care about, need health insurance for 2017, now's your chance to sign up or change plans through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Trained enrollment specialists in the Enroll Brazos Valley coalition are available to provide free, in-person assistance. They'll talk you through your options and share other important advice, including how to qualify for financial help, how to start an application, or how to re-enroll. Find sites in your area at Enroll Brazos Valley. Sign up or change plans by December 15th for coverage to start January 1st.

The United Way Youth Leadership Cabinet will be hosting their annual "United We Roll" fundraiser with Double Dave's Pizzaworks on Thursday, November 17. Double Dave's Pizzaworks will donate a portion of all proceeds from all local locations for dine-in, carry-out, and delivery all day to the United Way Youth Leadership Cabinet! Local celebrities will be making pizza from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Texas Avenue location (1410 South Texas Avenue, College Station, TX 77840). Come out and watch the fun!

Management Assistant (Full Time) - The Brazos Valley Food Bank
 
The Management Assistant will provide administrative support to the Brazos Valley Food Bank's (BVFB) Management Team - the Executive Director, Resource Recruiter, Distribution Manager, Programs Manager and Finance/Bookkeeping Associate.  BVFB is a fast paced environment, with multiple projects and events happening concurrently.  The Management Assistant needs to be able to help oversee, organize and manage clerical tasks ranging from room reservations to donor thank you letters to copying and filing.

  • Data entry and thank you letter generation for donations

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Strong computer skills and understanding of and ability to navigate software and database programs

Marketing & Communications Coordinator (Full Time) - Bryan/College Station Habitat for Humanity
 

Bryan/College Station Habitat for Humanity is looking for a team-player to fulfill an integral role in their Development Department. 



The purpose of the Marketing and Communications coordinator is to promote Bryan/College Station Habitat for Humanity and its mission through the planning and execution of a strategic marketing plan under the guidance of the Director of Development, using diverse media (website, social media, radio, television, etc) to communicate these messages. 



Essential Functions include:



* Respond to requests for information from the media or designate an appropriate spokesperson or information source. 

* Write press releases and other media communications to promote BCS Habitat. 

* Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with representatives of community, media, staff, homeowners and board. 

* Plan or direct development or communication of programs to maintain favorable perceptions of an organization's accomplishments, agenda, or environmental responsibility. 

* Study the objectives, promotional policies, or needs of organizations to develop public relations strategies that will influence public opinion or promote Habitat's mission. 

* Coach Habitat partners in effective communication skills with the public.

* Update and maintain content posted on the Web (experience with WordPress preferred). 

* Confer with other managers to identify trends or key group interests or concerns or to provide advice on strategic decisions. 

* Prepare or edit organizational publications, such as newsletters or annual reports, for internal or external audiences. 

* Coordinate public responses to environmental management incidents or conflicts. 

* Arrange public appearances, lectures, contests, or exhibits for Habitat to increase awareness or to promote goodwill. 

* Develop plans or materials to communicate activities undertaken by Habitat that promote its mission. 

* Prepare or deliver speeches to further Habitat's mission. 

* Confer with production or support personnel to produce or coordinate production of advertisements or promotions (experience with graphic design and desktop publishing preferred). 

* Consult with advertising agencies or staff to arrange promotional campaigns in all types of media for products, organizations, or individuals. 

* Plan or conduct market or public opinion research, communicating results to Director of Development. 

* Develop marketing campaigns. 

* Purchase advertising space or time as required to promote Habitat's mission.

* Other Duties as assigned. 





A Bachelor's degree in Communications or Marketing is preferred but an Associate's Degree with appropriate experience may be substituted. The preferred candidate would have graphic design and desktop publishing experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, but is not required.
