To have information considered for inclusion in the Digest, please submit it to 211@uwbv.org no later than 5:00 pm Tuesdays. All events posted are for the following week, events submitted for the same week will not be included in the Digest.

Inclusion in the Digest is at the sole discretion of 2-1-1 Texas/United Way of the Brazos Valley and is dependent on their guidelines.

Faith in Action Pumpkin Patch - Habitat for Humanity



The Faith in Action Pumpkin Patch will be held next to Hillier Funeral Home from Saturday, October 1, 2016 to Monday, October 31, 2016. Proceeds from the Pumpkin Patch help the Faith in Action committee sponsor a Habitat home for one of their partner families to purchase. Volunteers are also needed to help in the Pumpkin Patch. Pumpkins are priced by size. Admission to the pumpkin patch is free, but a donation to Bryan/College Station Habitat for Humanity is always appreciated.

13th Annual Buddy Walk - Down Syndrome Associate of Brazos Valley

The 13th Annual Buddy Walk will be held on October 2, 2016 from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M. The walk begins at 1:30 P.M. in Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater. Buddy Walk 2015 featured activities for the kids, fellowship, music, entertainment, great food and the one-mile walk. Buddy Walk is an event where anyone can come set up a tent or canopy, bring lawn chairs or blankets. Your support of Buddy Walk enables a variety of educational and social programs throughout the year to benefit people with Down syndrome, from birth through adulthood. Some of these programs include a summer program in which students work on reading, math and independence skills; sign language classes; dances; respite nights; and a computer class. Madison St. Joseph Health Center and the City of Madisonville are hosting the 20th Annual "HEALTHFIRST-HEALTHFEST." The health fair is unique in that it provides an opportunity to collaborate with organizations with a commitment to do health screenings and educational services for the community. This year each booth will offer screening and educational services that tie to the Community Health Assessment top six health related problems: obesity, hypertension, transportation, high cholesterol, asthma and arthritis/rheumatism.

Special Olympics Texas will host its annual statewide Fall Classic competition in Bryan/College Station from October 13-15 and the organization is in great need of volunteers! Spend the Aggie's bye week by going out and doing good in your community! Come out and support more than 1,300 athletes, who will be in town from all around the state to compete in Aquatics, Bocce, Golf and Softball! Grind4God Ministries is having a Homeless Hygiene Drive! Most needed items include deodorant, tooth paste, shampoo, conditioner, baby wipes, diapers, lotion, tissue rolls, bar soap, razors, socks, and bottled water.
