To have information considered for inclusion in the Digest, please submit it to [email protected] no later than 5:00 pm Tuesdays. All events posted are for the following week, events submitted for the same week will not be included in the Digest.
Inclusion in the Digest is at the sole discretion of 2-1-1 Texas/United Way of the Brazos Valley and is dependent on their guidelines.

Over the Edge Volunteer Opportunities Now Posted on VolunteerBrazosValley.org

There are two opportunities to volunteer at Over the Edge Brazos Valley and include:

General Event Volunteer: Want to volunteer with a totally unique, fun and exciting event?  Join us on September 7 & 8 to help ensure that Over The Edge Brazos Valley is a huge success! 

Available Shifts:
  • Wednesday, September 7: 3 hour shifts between 10 a.m and 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 8: 3 hour shifts between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Ropes Volunteer: Have experience rappelling and with ropes?  Register to be a ropes volunteer and receive a FREE rappel during training! Ropes volunteers must be available for the entire event on both Wednesday, September 7 and Thursday, September 8.  Learn more here

The Strengthening Families Program at the A&M AgrilLIfe Extension Service is hosting the annual Back to School Family Funfest on Tuesday, August 2. This event serves as a free resource fair for families in the Brazos Valley. Library Issues Forum: "The Fires of Babylon: Eagle Troop and the Battle of 73 Easting"

Join us as we welcome internationally recognized author and military Historian Mike Guardia as he discusses his newest book, "The Fires of Babylon: Eagle Troop and the Battle of 73 Easting." A veteran of the United States Army, Guardia served six years on active duty as an Armor Officer. Following Mr. Guardia's talk, we will have a reception in the rotunda, where you will have an opportunity to purchase his book and have it signed. The BV Coalition for the Homeless and the Brazos County Health Department will be hosting a human trafficking training.  Two training opportunities will be available-one for social service agencies and one for healthcare providers. Free Grief Workshops Offered by College Station Medical Center

The College Station Medical Center's Senior Circle will be offering a free series of grief workshops open to the public. Participants will receive a journal and DVD to accompany the program, which is led by counselor Brandi Riley of Visiting Angels and speaker and author Mary Margaret Mann. The workshops take place over a period of five weeks and cover approaches to grieving and dealing with sorrow. Better Choices, Better Health: Diabetes is a six week two-hour program that helps those living with pre-diabetes or diabetes and their support person to improve their general health by learning to find practical ways to deal with symptoms of diabetes, discover better nutritional and exercise choices, and find better ways to talk to your doctor and family about your health. Chronic Pain Self-Management Program

The Chronic Pain Self-Management Program is a FREE, 6-week, two-hour workshop that helps participants, and their support person deal with the ongoing issues associated with chronic pain.
