All events posted are for the following week, events submitted for the same week will not be included in the Digest.
Inclusion in the Digest is at the sole discretion of 2-1-1 Texas/United Way of the Brazos Valley and is dependent on their guidelines.

United Way of the Brazos Valley Hosting 'Over the Edge' Event

United Way of the Brazos Valley has exciting news to share with you!  
We will be hosting a completely unique fundraising adventure that is sure to have a lot of attention and buzz! 
On September 8, 2016, at the Hilton College Station, event participants will fight their fears while fighting for a stronger Brazos Valley. Over The Edge Brazos Valley provides the first 92 participants the opportunity to rappel 110 feet from the rooftop of the Hilton once they have raised $1,000 to benefit United Way of the Brazos Valley.  To learn more about this event or to register for a spot on the rappel list, visit www.overtheedgebrazosvalley.org.

Space Camp 2016 presented by T STAR and Blinn College

The Lessons in Mission Control (LiMC) program is designed to teach the STEM skills needed to be a Flight Controller for Space Station Mission Control, In addition to the STEM skills needs, students will learn about leadership, situational awareness, problem solving, communication and other life skills. The Making an Articulated Robotic System (MARS) program will be the afternoon session. Students will gain skills and knowledge related to the fast growing area of mechatronics by assembling, programming and then racing a robotic kit. The skills in this session will include mechanical, electric and software development skills. Enrollment limited to students 14-21 years of age. The City of Bryan Community Development Advisory Committee will host a public meeting to allocate grant funds for housing programs, public services agency programs, and technical assistance activities. This Department administers federal grants, which provide funding for activities and strategies meeting local needs and priorities within grant regulations, as outlined in the city's current 5-year Consolidated Plan goals and as funding allows. Starlight Music Series

The Starlight Music Series is a free music showcase that takes place every year over the summer. This outdoor concert series is held at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater and features bands representing a variety of styles and genres.  Refreshments and souvenirs are available at the festival, but attendees are welcome to bring their own small coolers. Downtown Bryan Summer Sunset Series

Four free concerts will usher in the warm weather months during the  Summer Sunset Series at the Palace Theater in Historic Downtown Bryan. The Brazos Valley Center for Independent Living is actively seeking candidates to fill the position of Independent Living Services Coordinator, a position responsible for coordinating independent living services cases, determining eligibility, and providing or coordinating services for individuals who have a significant disability to promote the full inclusion and participation of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of community living. Starting salary range is $30,000 - $36,000 depending on experience.
