All events posted are for the following week, events submitted for the same week will not be included in the Digest.
Inclusion in the Digest is at the sole discretion of 2-1-1 Texas/United Way of the Brazos Valley and is dependent on their guidelines.

SARC Hosts Annual Bob Wiatt Crosstown Lockdown Softball Tournament

On Saturday, May 21 at 8:30 AM, The Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) will host the Bob Wiatt Crosstown Lockdown Softball Tournament at Central Park in College Station. This is an annual event where all funds raised directly benefit SARC. This is a fun competitive way for local community members to get active for a much needed cause. Bring the family and enjoy the action on the field, food, raffle prizes and more! The cost is $25 per player or $275 team fee for unlimited players (includes tournament shirt, umpire fees, beverages). Are you interested in learning more about how to get involved with Voices For Children Inc., CASA of Brazos Valley? Join us for this informative meeting and learn how you can help abused and neglected children in our community.  We will discuss the role of a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). CASAs advocate for a child or sibling group through the child welfare system until the child or siblings can be placed in a safe, permanent, and nurturing home. We will discuss other volunteer opportunities within our organization as well.  The event is free, but please RSVP at 979-822-9700 or to kmason@voicesforchildreninc.org.

The Texas A&M AgrilLife Extension Service, in partnership with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Child Care Licensing, presents, "Inclusive Child Care for Preschool and School-Aged Children." This is a six-hour, CEU-approved training designed for child care providers and directors. *Please note that attendees must attend all six hours in order to receive the completion certificate needed for licensing training hours. Nutrition Education Coordinator - Brazos Valley Food Bank

The Brazos Valley Food Bank is in need of a Nutrition Education Coordinator. The Nutrition Education Coordinator oversees the Nutrition Program at the Brazos Valley Food Bank currently funded with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) Grant funds. Duties include implementing the Nutrition Education Curricula (Adults, Children or Pre-School) in partnership with two part-time Nutrition Educators and volunteers; scheduling and conducting nutrition classes and cooking demonstrations; recruiting and scheduling Nutrition Educators and volunteers to be trained to teach classes; and maintaining consistent communication with partners and developing relationships with community sites. Minimum qualifications for this Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Community Health required; One year experience in community nutrition, nutrition education, or community health education required.
