A Season of Sharing Our Faith
I find that hearing personal stories of faith are uplifting and enlightening, while also providing a reference to guide understanding. Sometimes hearing of a personal experience brings clarity in a way that objective consideration and study finds it difficult to reach. Continue reading...
Remembering Margi Waldo

Margaret "Margi" Waldo
November 19, 1920 - August 19, 2015

Margaret "Margi" was a lifelong Seattleite. She attended John Muir grade school, Franklin High School, and the University of Washington where she received a B.A. in Interior Design.

As a homemaker, she found time to be active in the Dr. Charles B. Ford Guild of Children's Hospital and the Arboretum Foundation, Unit #10. She also volunteered at Seattle Public Schools. Other memberships included Kappa Alpha Theta, Women's University Club, Seattle Art Museum, and Seattle Asian Art Museum.

Margi's interests and hobbies included interior design, current affairs, history, art and music appreciation, gardening, and fly fishing. In 1955 she caught a 77-pound Chinook salmon which, at that time, was the largest ever caught by a woman.

Margi moved to Horizon House the summer of 1995. She was a long time member of Pilgrim Congregational and continued to attend All Pilgrims until Lise Kenworthy died, as Lise used to bring Margi to church. Margi's children were raised at Pilgrim and her father made a very large communion table for the Sanctuary.

She died peacefully surrounded by family on August 19, at her home in Horizon House.
Chapel Memorial Garden History
Our history starts after the earthquake of 2001, when First Christian Church, across from Seattle Central College, and the Pilgrim Congregational were damaged. Both congregations wanted to continue their ministry on Broadway. After a few years of discussion between the two congregations, it was decided First Christian would be sold and the income from that building would be set aside to continue the Broadway ministry. After the merger, the All Pilgrims Christian young people and their leaders walked to the site where First Christian church was being torn down. They all carried as many bricks as they could hold to make a memorial garden in the outdoor chapel. Ten years ago, on the day of Pentecost, members of both congregations walked to the First Church site where the cornerstone of the building was dedicated by the ministers of both congregations. It was then rolled down Broadway into the sanctuary with the choir singing. The sermon followed with the theme "The Resurrection of the Future" - by Peter Drury, First Christian Church Pastor.

Now... the children who started the memorial garden have graduated. Some have moved away and some have gone on to college. Their bricks have been incorporated with new ones by Soren and Kelley. Pastor Greg trimmed several trees and bushes and cleared a new spot for the cornerstone. Larry, Soren, Kelley, Ken MacKay and others have all contributed to making this area a beautiful place. Feel free to sit on the chairs and benches and enjoy the plants, and think of the Saints who have made it possible for All Pilgrims Christian Church to continue today.
Bloom Where You Are Planted
Each time I have walked beside the Church, I have noticed the beauty around it where the many plants have bloomed where they were Planted.

This has been happening since Larry Pike, longtime member of All Pilgrims Christian Church, retired. We are grateful for his passion and ministry in gardening. He is also an expert in knowing each plant's scientific name...just quiz him sometime! This past summer has really been hard to keep the plants from getting dehydrated. Every day Larry and Ken were busy showering the plants, and several times local folk came around requesting a shower.
GATHERING OF WOMEN

The Gathering of Women will meet in the Weld Room on Sunday, October 4 at 12:15 pm.

All are welcome as we look into our own diversities. Ever wonder what it means to be transgendered? Come join Stephan Gerhardt to learn more about his journey as a transgendered person. ALL are welcome!
