Thank You for Your Support |
As the 2014-2015 school year comes to a close, I want to thank the McNicholas Alumni for many things. As many of you know, I joined the McNicholas Family in January of 2015. The support that I have received from many members of the Alumni, in terms of helping me "get my feet on the ground", has been outstanding. Whether it is understanding the traditions of McNicholas, or being able to run new ideas past some people, the Alumni have always stepped up to help, and I will be always be thankful. The passion that many of you have for McNicholas is contagious, and we will continue to strive to spread that feeling across the entire community.
I also want to thank all of you for the financial support that you have provided to McNicholas High School this year. The Alumni have been vital to some of the successes we have had this year. Our McNick at Night event had tremendous growth this year. We also are well on our way to surpassing last year's annual fund, and total giving numbers. We could not have made this improvement without the strong support of our Alumni.
As we prepare for the 2015-2016 school year, both Shawn Young and I are very excited about the plans we have to further develop both our communications with and support of our Alumni. You will see these plans roll-out very shortly. So enjoy the summer. Never forget what a special place McNicholas High School is and the great work that gets accomplished here. With the help of people like you, we provide our young men and women the greatest gift of all - a faith-based quality education.
Thank you for all you do for McNicholas High School

Missing Alumni - Help Us Reconnect. |
Your help has truly been amazing. In less than a year, we have grown our military list from 40 to over 250! We have been able to identify almost all of the dates for our alumni who are deceased, and we have been able to update our records on the website thanks to your hard work. But the mission to find all of our alumni still looms large. Please help us as we continue trying to find the alumni that we have lost touch with over the years. Please look up your class and see if you have any information for our missing graduates. Please click here.

Statue of Mary to be Restored |

After years of looking over the grotto, the statue of Mary is getting a restoration. The Military Memorial Committee has adopted the Grotto and has maintained it for years now. This year they decided to raise the funds needed to refurbish the Mary statue. Some of this money came from the students' out-of-uniform day the last week of school, and the rest was a gift from Perry Interiors. They have been a long time supporter of the Military Memorial Committees dance and they wanted to help with this project as well. The statute is scheduled to be removed in the month of June. The Benton Metal and Stone Care company of Hamilton will take the statue back with them and have her ready to look over the grotto by the time school starts. "The Mary statue was manufactured in Paris, and I know she's at least 50 years old because she was there when I started at McNick in 1965", said Ken Serger '69, who has helped oversee this project. In researching the history of the statue, Sr. Judi Keehnen looked into the journals kept by the Sisters. The first mention of the statue was from 1917! " May 1, 1917. "We had a Crowing of our Blessed Mother today at the Grotto. This grotto was built in memory of Mr. Scully by his daughter Mary. Mr. Scully was the contractor who built the convent. He died in 1915, while the convent was under construction.
