Presentation to Jeff OsterfeldDuring the Men's Hall of Fame event, Jeff Osterfeld '78 will receive the Good Fellowship Award for his commitment to McNicholas and helping make Penn Station Stadium a reality. On Oct. 16, 2010, McNicholas held their inaugural football game in Penn Station Stadium and during halftime, Osterfeld received a framed "84" jersey, the number he wore when he played football as a Rocket.
'An Evening of One-Acts' opens Feb. 7

The McNicholas High School Theatre Department will be hosting their annual winter production, 'An Evening of Winter One Acts,' on Feb. 7, 8, and 9. Unlike the typical multi-act show, this year's production will focus on two separate, one-act plays, each performed by a different set of students. Additionally, Theatre Director Teresa De Zarn has granted directing authority to two of her fellow McNicholas teachers, each of whom will direct one act of the production.

For science teacher and McNicholas alumnus John Chadwell, this year's production will mark his debut in the directing world. Chadwell will be directing Thornton Wilder's classic one-act, "The Happy Journey to Trenton and Camden," a lighthearted comedy that tells the tale of a family's road-trip to visit their recently-married daughter.

English teacher and alumnus Jeff Mulvey, who has directed a total of six main-stage shows during his time at McNicholas, is in charge of "!Artistic Inspiration," a modern one-act comedy by Don Zolidis that features two aspiring playwrights looking to make their fortune by writing a particularly lousy show.

Show time for Feb. 7 and 8 is 7:30 p.m., and 2 p.m. for Feb. 9. Tickets are priced at $8 for students and seniors or $10 for general admission, and will go on sale Feb. 27. To reserve a ticket, contact Teresa De Zarn via email at [email protected] or by phone at 231-3500 ext. 5137.

The Rocket Shop

The Rocket Shop is open from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Shop The Rocket Shop Online! From uniform items to  spiritwear items, it is accessible by clicking here

Rocket Shop needs your help for 2014-2015 school year: As many of you know, my daughter, Sarah Ruwe, will be graduating this May.  While I have enjoyed all the work I have done for the Rocket Shop the past two years, it is time for me to start planning for the next step in my journey and to pass on the knowledge that I have acquired the past 2 years to those who will come after me.

If you enjoy designing spirit wear OR have ideas for items that should be available in the Rocket Shop, perhaps you might be interested in helping with the merchandise coordination for the 2014-2015 school year (and beyond).  The merchandise coordination role can be performed by a single individual, but could also be broken up into some smaller roles, such as designing/ordering new spirit wear, ordering uniform apparel, processing online orders, coordinating Rocket Shop events (Open House, Homecoming, Freshman Registration).

If you are interested in learning more about the merchandise coordination role of the Rocket Shop, please contact Julie Dumont for more information.

News for seniors and their parents

The Physicians' Charitable Foundation is offering a scholarship for any students interested in entering the medical field. Students must reside within the extended Anderson Township area and show financial need in order to be considered for the scholarship. The application submission deadline is March 15, 2014. The application can be accessed here, and can also be found on Schoology in the Guidance group under Resources.

> The local area scholarship application is now available on the McNicholas websiteThroughout this year, various community organizations will seek out students that meet various criteria to award a scholarship to and often it is up to McNicholas to determine one or two students to recommend for these scholarships. Local area scholarships are scholarships that you can use at any school that you plan to attend; they are not school specific. This application is used by the McNicholas High School scholarship committee to help determine eligibility for these various "local area scholarships." Please complete the application carefully and neatly, placing special emphasis on any unusual circumstances which may be affecting either you and/or your family. Applications need to be returned to the guidance office by Friday, Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. If you do not apply, you will not be considered. Please contact your counselor if you have any questions.
