Having the faith to believe that all will be well. Having the ability to trust and rely. Doubt free. To believe that no matter what we are perceiving, God has our back. Imagine if we could all have that powerful belief system, and never waiver.....never allow doubt and worry to capture our attention when they start waving their hands.
Last year I had to learn to adjust to a "new normal" of not having the safety security structure and salary of a regular job. After 40 years of regular work a a nurse, in one day it was all taken away. A chronic anxiety settled in and left me feeling pretty stuck. No clarity. Fear of the unknown. What the heck do I do now? It was not a good time for me and trust me I tapped nearly every day on all of the "aspects".
However, something began to change for me when one of my former coaching clients asked me if I had ever read the book The Game of Life and How to Play It. It sounded interesting, so I bought it for a penny on Amazon. That book taught me how to think differently. And you know how it goes, change your thoughts, change your life. It's a small book, written in 1925 by a woman named Florence Scovel Shinn. They call it a Prosperity Classic. I call it the best book I have read on how to manifest, or Play the Game of Life. And while not a religious book at all, she reminds us of the truths that came out of the mouth of Jesus Christ, who I don't believe would lie to us. Spiritual truths that we can use to "right our minds in our thinking" and thus better imprint the subconscious with our own thoughts and words.
Most people consider life a battle, but it is not, it is a game which cannot be played without the knowledge of spiritual law. Jesus taught that it was the game of Giving and Receiving. "Whatever a man soweth that shall he also reap" Love reaps love. Hate reaps hate. Steal someone's something, and it's only a matter of time, right?
The author believes that we not only have a conscious mind, but also an unconscious, which is simply "power without direction, like steam or electricity, and it does what it is directed to do; it has no power of induction." So whatever we feel deeply or imagine clearly (frankly, everything we believe to be true) will be imprinted or impressed upon the subconscious mind which will then carry out the belief in detail. She also believes that we all have a superconscious mind which is the God Mind, our connection to the Divine, and it is "the realm of perfect ideas". Sadly we neglect to access our God Mind where our Divine Design resides. Instead, we look around, draw conclusions, develop belief patterns that impress and then direct the subconscious mind to attract to us exactly what we get. A belief in lack attracts lack. A belief that we need to worry will have us bumping up with new things to worry about constantly. Ever wonder why the same things keep showing up in your life??
Jesus says "Fear not, ye of little faith" Jesus asks us to "cast your burden up...My burden is light I can take yours for you" Jesus also said, "Ask and it shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you." Notice the word was "shall" not "maybe, if you are lucky". So anytime you ask, seek or knock, start with a great big Thank You.
"All these things that I can do, you can do as well".
And "I did not heal you, your faith saved you."
Jesus also said "bless and multiply" which is why, when we are truly grateful for what we do have, more good stuff shows up. Think loaves and fishes parable.
I will end by telling my all time favorite Jesus story. Peter in the boat and Jesus asking Peter to step out and walk on water. Although frightened, at some point Peter had the faith and the belief that he could, so he stepped out, and as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, low and behold, Peter was walking on the water! The mistake came when he moved his eyes off of Jesus and allowed fear to step in. Down he went.
Conclusion: Spiritual truths are where our truth resides. Until we start listening to those words of truth and believing in them with our entire being, we will be battling with life, instead of playing the Game of Life. My new mantra is "God is my provider and supplier and I cast any doubt or fear up."
"All that we are is a result of what we thought."
