A FEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

The 2014 Natural Living Expo was the best! I offered free 5 minute tapping sessions and every single person had a shift for the better! My "Stress Relief with EFT" talk  drew nearly 200 people! So much fun and many people expressed an interest in attending one of my future workshops. So check the events page on my website to get all you need to know about upcoming events. www.medicinemyway.us

I am also honored to have been invited to join "The Wellness Collaborative" a group of very talented and respected holistic practitioners. I will be their go-to EFT girl!! Honored and grateful for this....The office is on East Central Street in Natick, so if you were interested in private sessions but thought the commute to Northboro was too far, you will be able to book appointments with me in Natick on Tuesdays. My start date will be January 6.

The next Thinner Peace for women 8 week group will start February 17th and run for 8 consecutive Tuesdays. A separate email with details will be sent out shortly regarding location and price. And there is plenty of information on this on my events page on my web site.

I am now advertising on YELP! Great site that they set up including pictures and video. Molly is the star of the show, of course! Click on the Yelp banner to view it!

My friends Lisa and Charlotte, fellow grads of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition lead the untimaterejuvinationcleanse
a life changing whole foods based 21 day cleanse three times a year. They feel, as I do,when we attempt at making dietary changes, the subconscious mind, that really hates change, says, "Hey what the heck is going on, I don't want to give up what I like" This will undoubtedly wind up causing deprivation and self sabotage Understanding the power of EFT they have asked me to be their honorary EFT speaker as they kick off their first 2015 program Sunday January 25 from 2-4. THE TWO VOICES IN YOUR HEAD

We just finished up our 8 week Thinner Peace group. It was awesome and I can't wait to start the next group in February.  I believe that people can get addicted to food, just like other addictive substances. There is a 12 step group called Over Eaters Anonymous, just like AA. I remember when I worked the detoxes, I would have to take patients to AA meetings. AA is great, but not everyone liked its style and wanted another pathway to recovery. Well, since I was forming a group that had to do with food addiction, I remembered something called Rational Recovery. Bought the book on Amazon for 1 cent. Found it fascinating.

Written many years ago by a man named Jack Trimpey who had a severe problem with alcohol and broke free from his addiction with an approach far different from 12 Step philosophy. In a nutshell, this is his premise. Many moons ago when the human species was into survival mode, the brain was small, and it's primary purpose was, well, to survive. So this "midbrain" sought out only things that caused pleasure. Food and sex. The desire for food and sex was the equivalent as the need to breathe oxygen. And because of this pleasure seeking part of our brain, we survived as a species!! Yay, good for us! Back then, the pleasure seeking often caused us to be quite beastly and animalistic. We had to be. Our survival depended on this.

Over time, our brains grew in size and intelligence and we became much more civilized and "rational". We now have a very evolved brain called the neocortex. Here is the problem. That old "midbrain" that Jack refers to as the Beast, is still alive and well, and will be the cause of all of our misery and self-sabotage. We want to make changes for the better. We want to eat right, exercise, wake up feeling super duper and yet that pleasure seeking Beast has us running to engage in pleasure seeking behaviors such as overeating, abusing alcohol and drugs, smoking, staying up too late, gambling, porn. The beast keeps us afraid to give up the pleasure seeking substance or behavior by convincing us in a very convincing manner (it is so conniving and manipulative) that
we will just die if we can't get to the thing we do that we hate. Everyone has a beast it's part of our physiology. However we also have a rational thinking smart brain that knows right from wrong.

Thus, two opposing voices in the head. And you know what? The beast is an "it" and your rational authentic voice is the real YOU!! Jack teaches people how to start listening for the beast to pipe up and then teaches them how to notice it, and then tell it to shut up. In reality, the beast is notably frightened of the rational intelligent good decision making you. Even though we feel so controlled by it, it can be rendered powerless, once you truly understand "it" is only an "it" and "it" is not the authentic YOU! "It" speaks to you but "it absolutely cannot control your muscles.

Hmmm, so I thought, this makes sense to me so I introduced the concept into my Thinner Peace group. Thought I was really cool until I saw that he also wrote Taming the Feast Beast, and Smokey the Beast! An addiction is the pleasure seeking midbrain Beast driving your behavior in a direction that you, the rational you knows all too well will only cause more pain and suffering.

Understand that the real you is your real self who only wants the best for you.
Your pleasure seeking beast won't care if your bad habits will wind up killing you. If you hear yourself say, "I am my own worst enemy" YOU are not your enemy at all! Your beast is. Start listening and start realizing how irrational it is. And take your power back!

"You are hopeless and will never change"
~ The Beast

Now does that sound rational??

notes from the Universe
A NOTE FROM THE UNIVERSE

"Twas the month of Christmas and on every single day,
I thought of things that might brighten your day.
And then it just hit me, like a sleigh hit the roof,
That with your thoughts, you can be your own proof.

So choose them with care and lots of emotion.
Because it's what you are feeling that sets them in motion.
And when the clock strikes 12 on a particular eve,
You might not believe all that is under your tree.

Metaphorically dear.

Tally ho ho ho
