Yesterday was Christmas.
That means there are only 364 days until Christmas!
It always leaves me a bit stunned when Christmas is over. There is so much build-up, so much preparation, so much to do and get done---and then, BOOM, it's gone.
Yesterday was Christmas.
Today would you take a moment to just relish the day that was yesterday? Take time to "ponder" all that took place (yes, both good and bad).
And would you rejoice in the gift that was yesterday?
Today thank God for the blessings in your life; because "every good gift" comes from the Father.
Today thank God for the burdens in your life; because God shows up in our burdens. He is an ever-present help in times of trouble.
Sometimes, I think we do not relish the gift of yesterday nearly enough. We just trudge on forward.
But God often calls us to remember. And in order to remember, you need to pause in today and give thanks for the gift that was yesterday.
Old King Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes these words:
When people live to be very old, let them rejoice in every day of life. But let them also remember there will be many dark days.
There is some kind of connection between remembering and rejoicing, regardless of whether a day was filled with good or whether it is one of Solomon's "dark days".
So regardless of what transpired yesterday, would you spend time with the Giver-of-all-days and make your life, once again an offering to Him.
"God, Yesterday was a gift. Thank you. Today is a gift. Thank you. Today, I give you thanks for both the blessings and burdens that were a part of yesterday. In fact, I give you thanks for all the days of blessing and burdens that have been a part of this year. And once again, I come to you and declare, I am yours".
